The Kentucky Midland
To give our readers some idea of what
is being done in our neighboring counties
on a much talked of railroad we quote
from the Paris Kentuckian Citizen the
following Over six hundred hands are
at work on the Kentucky Midland between
Frankfort and Georgetown The work is
being pushed rapidly and is first class in
all respects The alignment the road
bed and every part of the engineering
show care and judgement in the construc
tion It is creditable to officers and con
tractors The company comtemplate an
iron bridge across the Buffalo Track near
Frankfort instead of wooden as first
specified The work between Georgetown
and Paris has not progressed as fastas the
company desired owing to the non attain
ing of the right of way The Vice Presi
dent Gen Dan Lindsay with Engineer
Douglas and the Bourbon Directors with
Attorney Lucas were out on right of way
matters yesterday The line is corrected
and improved in several places making it
shorter more direct and giving better
satisfaction to various land owners The
work of Obtaining the right of way will
now be pushed with vigor and the force
employed increased on this end of the
line It is now calculated that the road
will be completed to Georgetown by De
cember 1st and within a short while
thereafter to Paris It will be a road of
great local value and with its connections
and extensions of first Importance in the
State of Kentucky

Dr Chcnaulls Sanitarium
The beautiful property on South Broad
way known as the Col Richard West
place consisting of a large and elegant
mansion and twelve acres of well laid out
and beautifully ornamented grounds has
been purchased by Dr R C Chenault
Dr Chenault intends to immediately open
the West Mansion as a private sanitarium
for the treatment of mental and nervous
disorders Lexington may be considered
in luck as there is now no institution of
the kind in the State thcugh one has long
been sadly needed Dr Chenault is pe
culiarly fitted for the work He has made
a specialty of nervous and mental diseases
and was quite successful in treating them
during the eight y ears he was Superin
tendent of the Lunatic As lum in this
city He has been a physician of the
highest repute for thirty years and is well
known throughout the State as a gentle
man of the highest character and standing
Therefore it may be concluded that he
will have no trouble in securing at once
as many patients as his Sanitarium will
accommodate Tliere could be no better
situation than the West Mansion for an
institution of this kind as it is delightfully
located in one of the healthiest quietest
and most retired portior of the city Lex
