The number of close races in the pri mary was remarkable. Dewn in Christ ian county lite two candidates for County Attorney got exactly the same vote, and settled it by flipping a dollar. In the Senatorial race between Mr. Had den and Mr. Clay, in the Mt. Sterling district, the vole is so close that the offi cial count is required -to decide the winner. In Nicholas county Deputy Sheriff Parker was chosen over Mr. Rankin by but two votes, while from all over the State reports came of many nominations being made only by a few votes over their opponents. This is unfortunate for several rea sons, mainly because the man beaten by only a few votes is apt to claim that he is entitled to the nomination and stir up strife. Fortunately, however, the average candidate is a good loser, and unless he feels that he has been very badly treated usually takes his medicine and announces that he will support his opponent with all his might. This spirit is commendable. Let there be no pouting and no exhibition of sore spots, and if the vanquished will do all they can for the victor we will win all along the line.
