with a certificate of marriage. The law

NEWS NOTES
Two persons are believed to have been
drowned when the Majectic sank in the
Mississippi river Friday night, after hit
ting a water tower.
Imports for May showed a good in
crease, but there was a falling off in ex
ports, according to figures just issued by
the Government.
Nine were killed and a dirigible bal
loon and areoplane wrecked in a crash
between the two air crafts in Vienna,
Saturday.
Male sympathizers of the suffragettes
who interrupted the speech of Chancel
lor Lloyd-George in London were rushed
into a nearby lake and repeatedly duck
ed, a clergyman being among those thus
treated.
Mrs. Jesse R. Grant, wife of a son of
the former President of the United
States, has made her husband a defend
ant in a suit in which she seeks to have
money held by a trust company'set aside
for her support.
Over 100 bodies of the 197 men en
tombed in a mine at Lethridge, Alberta,
have been recovered. The rescue work
continues. A gas explosion is believed
to have caused the disaster.
The wife of a prominent Boston law
yer was arrested for his death, after he
was found lying in a road near his coun
try home with a bullet through his
head.
It is announced that 13 of the fire in
surance companies that withdrew from
this State upon the passage of the Glenn
Greene bill have renewed their licens
es. The Senate Judiciary Committee de
cided to eliminate from the House Anti
trust bill words which lawyers contend
would legalize the blacklist.
Little attention is being paid by the
Treasury Department to the large gold
shipments, $70,000,000 in all, which have
been sent to Europe.
Jews in America are neglecting the
tenets of their religion too much, ac
cording to a speaker before an Orthodox
congregation last week.
