Gasoline is becoming a more impor tant on the farm and in the country generally and the contemplated raise in price will not be of much moment to those who have to use the fluid, it is said by dealers in gasoline driven machines. Impliment dealers assert that the last thing the farmei thinks of is the price of gasoline, since what he wants and wants quick, is service. He wants the machines and I wants to get them to work as soon as possiDie. j nis is aue to tne lact that the fanner used this farm machinery for its effectiveness, not for the pleasure of it. He wants his work done and this is the quickest way to get it done ,and the value of the gaso line driven machinery is being more and more in evidence as the scarcity of labor is seen in the country. Automobile dealers declare that this feature of the trade is not giving them any alarm whatever., They ad mit there may be a number of in creases in the price, but this will de crease the number of accidents. Es pecially is this believed to be true in cities, where it is a known fact many youngsters, who have nothing else to do make it a practice to "give dad's machine a workout." The Reeves Company, handling the Maxwells, continues to send to .Cin cinnati and have the new cars driven overland to Richmond, since this is the only mannei', they claim in which the autos can be obtained. Business with this firm is good, and would be better, Mr. Reeves remarked Satur day,, of they could but get the ma chines same complaint of the other dealers of the city. "The shipping faclities are put back further every week the strike continues and it will require much time to get things straightened out, even after the dif ference is settled". He reported that while the number of machines handled was smaller than usual the past week, there had been an unusual demand for gasoline. Are you troubled with Varicose Veins? ' ACME GARAGE 146 Church Street rfcone 368 Lexington, Ky. JOHN IL SIIEEHY -GUS MORGAN Another advance in the price of gasoline closely following the recent one is predicted by refiners and rep resentatives of various oil companies. The cause for the' increase is the increased . consumption - a gasoline shortage and the advance in prices of crude oil refiners say. ' C. P. Collins, president of the Stand ard Oil Company of Kentucky, in a statement declared the price of crude oil has almost doubled during the past six months while the price of gasoline has only inci-eased four or five cents on the gallon. One oil company representative, in creased consumption, said that during the past seven years the production and use of automobiles had increased 1,700 per cent, while the increase in production of gasoline through the various processes used lately by re finers has increased only 590 per cent. "All seem to take into consideration, the fact that they must be careful and accidents are very few and far be tween", commended Chief of Police Devore Saturday morning. "Owners of vehicles arc educated to the art of carefulness here and since the streets have' been torn up, they seem to realize that caution is necessary, with the result that few accidents are reported. There are many women drivers, some of them pretty young, whom I will put against the most careful drivers, and they contribute largely to the good record being made for the city relative auto accidents. Some of them will cross streets filled with people at times, wending their way slowly and always having perfect control of their machines, being able to stop within a distance of two or thi'ee feet, thus reducing the danger of J acidents to the minimum. I hope that some of the young men will profit by by this statement regarding the ladies as drivers, and keep up the record as it is at the present time, for it is sure ly a credit to the city when the num ber of machines in use, together with condition of the streets, is considered." Several business men of Hick man have formed a coffin' com pany and will r.oon embark in the business of manufacturing coffins. Scores of new names arc being added to the membership list of the Christian county Overall Club at Iffjpkiirsville and it is said, that the ladies will follow in the movement in the way of donning ,gingham dresses.
