fThe Magazine Club
Thc Magazine Club which
is sometimes erroneously term
ed the Thirteen Club is one
of the delightful organizations
among Lawrenceburgs four
hundred While it does con
sist of thirteen members it
was not premeditated on the
part of the organizers to defy
the old superstition nor did
they wish to test the correct
ness of it but it will stagger
the faith of the firmest believ
er in the doctrine of the un
lucky thirteen to know that
the Magazine Club has been
in existence eleven years and
the members are all living
hale and hearty dwelling to
gether in unity and have long
since settled for all time the
mooted question that marriage
is not a failure The members
of the organization are not ex
tremists for they do not meet
on the 13th of the month nor
do they partake of thirteen
courses as some wag has in
timated but they do take
thirteen periodicals and some
times sit thirteen at the table
Once a month a delightful en
tertainment is proffered ba
member and many outsiders
are invited to partake of the

the magazines arc often dis
cussed Thirteen of the best
I periodicals in existence are
taken and these are exchang

tematically from one member
to another The club does
not enlarge its membership
because it would take the books

i Only one meeting a year is
called and that is in Decem

for incidental expenses This
