C. attended .the burial of Mr. George Grider, Coburg, Monday. Mr. Grider died in Louisville where he had undergone an op peration. Old aunt Eliza Grider who was about 91 years old, died last Wed nesday night, October 21st. Mr. Lander Bryant has been teaching for Prof. Huffaker, giving perfect satisfaction. Mrs. ISancy Hughes sold a good milk cow last week for $45. Some of our farmers have com menced butchering hogs, Mr. J. 0. Polley and Mr. U. M, Grider being among the number. Mr. Luther Grider lost a fine horse last week and Mr. John Corabest lost a mule. Little Miss Alene Blair was the guest of little Miss Nel lie Polley last Tuesday night. S. I. Blair and U. M. Grider made a business trip to Louisville last week, and we are informed that Mr. Grider rented property and will remove his family there in the near future. Grider, who was taken seriously ill several days ago, was removed to Louisville , where he underwent a very seri ous operation, and was thought to be improving until Monday, when a message reached here that he was dead. J. G. Dudgeon has sold his farm at this place, to R. 0. Stubbs, and bought Miss Lizzie Buchanan's farm, near Camp bellsville. Mr. Ben Cravens and two daughters, of Iotta, were visit ing Mr. Elijah Hancock and fam ily, one day last week. Mr. W. J. Biggs, of this place, who has been doing office work for the L. & N. railroad at Louis ville, for the past two years, has been confined to the Deaconnes3 Hospital with typhoid fever, for the past two weeks, is improv ing, and is expected home soon. Born to the wife of Irvin Holt, Sunday, Oct., the 19th, a girl. Irvin is all smiles now. Mrs. Ella Pike and sister, Mrs. Eva Pike and children, of Ella, were visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Ayers, Sunday. Misses Mollie and Fannie Beard, Fannie and Emma Page, spent Friday night with Miss Flora Page, near Miami. They were delightfully entertained with music, both vocal and in strumental. There will be singing at Kel Ieyville church, the second Sun day afternoon in November, cop ducted by Prof. Elva Jones, of Glenville. Every body come and help sing. Sunday school at Tabernacle, is progressing nicely. Mr. W. R. Lyons, who travels in his auto, called on the mer chants of this neighborhood, last Wednesday. Misses Mattie and Fannie Ev-1 ans spent last Monday with Mrs. E. L. Grant. Mr. Edgar Collins, of Casey Creek, visited friends in this neighborhood, last Friday. Miss Cordie Baxter, of Knifley, spent last week with her sister, Mrs. Welby Mings, of this place. The spelling at Tabernacle last Friday night, was a success. Mr. W. H. Evans was in Co lumbia, last Saturday and Sun day. Misses Sarah Collins and Patsy Roy, visited at Roley, from Fri day till Sunday. Mr. J. G. Knifley sold a span of mules to Mr. J. L. Beard, for a fancy price. Mr. James Allen, of Huston ville, bought some nice heifers from Kinch Jones, at 6 cents per pound. Lilborn Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Williams, is very sick at this writing. Mr. B. T. Evans and sister, Mattie, returned home from Ti na, Mo., the 23rd of this month, where they had spent one month with relatives and f rien ds. They reported a fine visit. The Tabernacle church will soon be completed. Mr. W. E. Squires of Colum bia, was in this community last Saturday night and Sunday. Little Ray Knifley has been on the sick list for the past week. The C grade takes in Spokes that are more than one third sap timber, bug both grades must be split from Second Growth White Oak, showing a good growth. Don't Split Brash Timber into Spokes, as we cannot use them. Spokes that are brash, also pieces containing worm holes, knots, sun checks and short crooks will be classed as culls.
