James and Will Diddle spent 3. day or so in Russell county last week, looking after work cattle. Messrs. Gill & Young, of Co lumbia, were in this community last week, buying cattle at a :fancy price. They bought sev ersl head. Messrs. Cleo and Phil Sherrill, of Lebanon and Cane Valley, :spent several days of last week foy the bedside of their sick fa ther, who is in a very critical condition at this time. Mr, Robert Wilson, of Cane Galley, the well-known candy saan, was shaking hands with Ihis many friends in our town one day last week. 'Mr. Eugene Nell and daughter, who spent a day or so at Edmon ton, the first of the week with .relatives, returned home the tiast of the week. Mr. U. N. Whitlock, of Bliss, was in our midst last Friday, .-and informed us that he had just s:eturned from Greensburg, where he had been in the tobac co market for a day or two, and we are glad to note that he is ihighly pleased with the prices that good tobacco is bringing on tbhe market. Mr. Robert McKinney, who is sawing a large number of logs aiear this place, for Hicks & Dur jham, of Greensburg, is getting along nicely, considering the weather. Mr. McKinney is a rniill man right, and knows ex actly what to do when he gets 4iold of a saw mill. We under stand he is making a nice lot of lumber. Mr. L. H. Fielders, the lum ber .man of our town, spent a day .or so in Greensburg last week on business. Messrs. Lum Hill and Elmer Keen in company with Dr. S. 5&mnons, of our city, spent last week in Louisville, and Frank fort. We know they had a nice time. ing with all of the former Adair county people, and reports them all -getting along nicely with plenty of this world's goods around them. Born, to the wife of Judge N. H. Moss, on the 10th, a son. Mother and child are getting along nicely. , Greensburg. M.ru J. Cager Yates, of Brad fords ville, the well-known over all man, spent a few days in our town last week with our mer chants and his relatives, and in company with Mr. Stong Hill he left for Edmonton and Glasgow, jmaking all the stores on the route. Mr. Hill informed us .that they htd a very enjoyable trip, and spent one night with Hr. and Mrs. John Hughes and family, of Edmonton, and the ,.q.ight was sent yery pleasantly, ;or.Mr Hughes and wife, know aaothing else than to make peo ?pl happy. Mr.. Yates had a me trade, and Mr. Hill says he jihad all the good things to eat that could be had. While in company with his old friend Much interest is being mani fested in the Farmers Institute which will be held' here the 20 and 21 of this month. A com mittee composed of Mrs. W. H. Graham, Mrs. B. M. Taylor, Mrs. R. L. Durham, Mrs. Mattie Hob son, Miss Lizzie Graham. W. L. Fos:er, and Woodson Lew s met last week arid raised sixtyone dol lars to be offered for prizes for ex hibits at the Institute. Printed programs, containing these prizes have been sent to every section of the county. The following prizes will be awarded the 20th at one p. m. : Best yield of corn, Duroc Jersey pig; best ten ears, $10; second best ten ears, $5; third best ten ears,- $3; and to each boy that ails to get a prize for his corn, the Green County Record will be sent for one year. For the best specimen pair of thoroughbred chickens, $3; sec ond best specimen pair $2. For the best specimen pair thorough bred turkeys, $3; second best specimen pair, $2. For the best specimen pair ducks, any breed, $1. For the best peck of irish potatoes, $2; best peck of sweet potatoes, 2. For the best pound of butter $2; for second best $1. For the best quilt pieced by girl fifteen years and under, $1. For best one .dozen biscuits baked by girl 15 years and under, $ 1 . For best loaf cake baked by girl 15 years and under, $1. Saturday the 21st at 12 o'clock, Woodson Lewis will give 10 to best baby, one year and under. Arrange ments are being made for the do mestic science demonstrations by Mrs. Mary Ginn, of Lexington, who will be one of the speakers. The Greensburg Band will fur nish music during the Institute and a large crowd is anticipated if the weather is good. W. W. Mitchell, Manager of the Greensburg Amusement Co. T is having a commodious room fit ted up for the installation of a new moving'picture show. Mrs. Elza Pierce, who wa3 bit ten by a srfake five weeks ago, died Friday. She was reaching intoa pit in her garden for veg etables when it is thought the snake bit her. The flesh fell from 'the arm on which she was bitten and blood poison re sulted. She was the wife of Mr. Elza Pierce, of Pierce, who is a member of the Board of Supervisors. from here several c,ar loads of staves. Mr. L. F. Risen, of Summers ville, has sold out his business interest and residence at that place and has moved to Camp bellsville where he will make his home. He sold his store and merchandise business to Mr. W. B. Scott, and bought the home and farm of Mr. Scott in Campbellsville. Attorney Jeff Henry is now in a Louisville hospital where he recently had an operation per formed for the removal of catar act. He is said to be recovering nicely and it is thought that he will again have his sight restor ed. Mr. Henry has been almost blind for several months, so much so that he had to be led on the streets. He now expects to be in good trim for the March term of the Green Circuit Court. ine quantity oi tooacco on this market have not ye abated. It was thought some two weeks ago that at least eighty per cent of the tobacco had been market ed but the past few weeks of this market have witnessed as large receipts a3 any weeks of the season, Some fifty loaded wagons are now under the sheds to be unloaded for the market and the daily receipts are equal to the daily sales. This market has sold nearly two million pounds of tobacco since it opened in November and practically no rejections have been recorded during the entire season. Prices last week were as good as at any time since the season opened. On burley they ranged from $2 50 to $17.75, while dark tobacco has run as high as $10. S. Monroe lands. The first tract to be offered contains 231 acres, and on Surveyor's plat as lot Xo. 3 The second tract contains 28 1-6 acres, and shown on Surveyor's platt as lot No. 2, which will be sold subject to the homestead rights of the defendants therein. Should said tract, (lot No. 3,) fail to bring enough money to satisfy said debts, interests, and costs of this action, of sufllcient thereof to produce the sums of money so or dered to be made. COMMISSIONER'S SALE. Mr. J. A. Diddle, of Gradyville, who has a lumber yard here, has bought - a fine farm in Logan 1 .county, for which he paid $30, 000. Mr. Diddle will not make 4 his home there until the latter part of the year. This farm is known as' the Henry Dawson place and is one of the best of the County. It is well improved; and on a good pike near Adair ville. It has good pikes leading in several directions'.
