If you want to hear a good sermon come out on the 5th Sun day and hear Rev. Payne at the Baptist church. Elbert Nell bought last week from J. A. Diddle, four work mules, harness and wagon for $500.00. The bird hunters put in a few days last week after quail. Mr. Thos. Dowell raised the finest patch of turnips that was ever grown in 'tthis section. Some of the largest weighed 5 pounds. Mr. Alfred Parson has had a very sick horse for the past week or so. Supt. Tobias Huffaker, of Co lumbia, was visiting the schools irfthis section for a day or so of last week. Mrs. W.cM. Wilmore was on the sick list for several days of last week. Cager Jones and Strong Hill have been supplying our market with fresh beef for the past week or so. Owing to the severe cold weath er, the carding machine at this place, will close down for the season ina few days. W. B. Hill, who returned from Bowling.Green a few days ago, is improving slowly. James Q. Diddle and Robert Wethington put in several days last week hunting. It was hard to tell who was the Nimrod. We would like to ask our Ten nessee friend, if they raised oth er vegetables down in his section in proportion to the beet he made mention of in the last weeks is sue of the News. If so, we would be glad to have him fur nish us with a supply of seeds for the next season. Mr. Strong Hill has just re turned from Bowling Green and Louisville, where he bought a full line of saw mill belting at a reduced price. Mr. Hill owns quite a number of mills and he finds use for a lot of belting as well as other mill repairs. Born, to the wife of Gilliam Breeding, on Nov. 4th, a son. Another Democrat added to the Gradyville precinct. Mother and child doing well. On last Wednesday night we had the pleasure of attending the exercises rendered by the students "of Mr. Finis'5 Strange and his assistant, Miss Shirley. It was very interesting to every one present. The patrons as well as the children .should feel proud of their instructors. ; Mr. J. R. Yates was confined to his room several days of last week, with a very sore hand. Rowe's X Roads. What a cold spell to commence winter with! Zero this week. May be we won't lose all our meat this time. Daniel Scruggs had a child to die in Green county. They brought it back here to John Turner's o bur y it. The board of health would not let them have a funeral. No one was al lowed to see the child They did not knoar what was the mat ter with it, Rev. J. K. P. Aaron has been on the sick list for several weeks. Henry Barns is visiting his brother Dock, at this place, this week. They are both old men and feeble. Robert Hadley is going to move to Bear Wallow, Burton Ridge, to live with "his father and mother a year. Willie Kane made a dash through here this week hunting after fertilizer debts, Bill Cook has gone to Colum bia this week ona business trip, and to see his children that live at Columbia. Oliver Hadley made a trip to Columbia this week after goods for Needmore No, 2. Finis Kelsay had a work mule to die this week. This leaves Finis in a bad fix. It was all he had. The bird hunters are having a jolly time. Jim and Sam Hurt and Alvin Pierce came in from Illinois with guns and dogs for a bird hunt. J. C. Hurt, S. M. Hurt, McOllen Lapsley, and R. B. Grider hunted birds yester day until they got tired and hun gry. They came to Needmore No., 2 and bought salmon oys ters, tomatoes and other things. The boys had a full round mess, then they went on rejoicing, come again boys? Rugby. There will be Thanksging ser vices at Mt. Pleasant church on Thursday. A well-known preach er will preach in the morning, and in the afternoon the exer cises will be conducted by the Rowetown school. Other schools are invited to take part. Every one is invited to come and bring dinner. Last Thursday, Mrs. "Flora Rossen had a severe attack of heart trouble of which she is bothered, but is better. We had our first snow last Thursday. It looked like that Santa would soon be here. W. J. Bean was at Mr. Bill Rowe's last Wednesday contract ing sorghum. -Mr. Bean is the best sorghum maker in this part of the state. There was a large crowd at the spelling at Antioch last Fri day night. Tause McGinnis is building a large barn which improves the looks of his place. The people are getting along nicely gathering corn and it is turning out well of which we are very thankful. Our jovial Supt. was with us last week glad to have him with us. Think the people did a good thing for the children to have Prof. Huffaker to be our Supt. Euniue. The health of this community is fine at this time. Misses Florence Rubarts, Sarah Collins and Fannie Williams were the pleasant visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Williams last Saturday night and Sunday. Eld. Z. T. Williams and Luth er Young gave us a very inter interesting sermon at Tabernacle last Friday night. Mr. P. P. Wesley was in Co lumbia last Wednesday on busi ness. Mr. Jim Herriford, who has been staying with his grand mother, Mrs. Puss Williams, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Herriford, of Co lumbia, this week. Eld. J. B.
