Seemingly there is less inter est throughout the State in the present race fon Governor tban ever before known in Kentucky politics. In this immediate sec tion the candidates are seldom mentioned, and we venture the assertion that not one fifth of the Democrats of Adair have an nounced who they intended Ao support. About Columbia there have been some expressions, and we find the vote divided between i McDernott, Cherry and Stanley, but at the same time no voter seems to be very enthusiastic. Later the buz may. start, but;'at present the breeze is perceptibly, calm. As to subordinate posir tions, Hon. M. M. Mr. Phelps is a Re publican, and a gentleman who stands high in Russell county, and will, doubtless, be formidable before the people. Judge J. C. Carter has already announced for re-nomination for said posi tion, and it is not likely that any, one else will be before the peo-; pie but himself and Mr. ' Phelp's.; Both being true Kentucky gen tlemen,, we predict, their r.espec- tive canvasses, .will be .pitched upon a "high "pldne."
