At night a monstrous farewell ser
vice will he held in the Armory at

i Sixth and Walnut streets There
will be two addresses one made by
the Rev Martin D Hardin of
Charlotte N C the son of former
Gov P Vat Hardin Mr Hardin
> was one of the best students ever
graduated from old Center College
He was foremost among the college
athletes being one of the stronger
men on the foot ball team that ever
I donned a gridiron suit He rank
ed equally high in scholarship hav
injftaken several prizes during his
college course Mr Hardin repn
sent the youngergeneration of Ken
tuckians whohave gone outside the
e State to make a name for them
selves and to reflect added glory
upon the old Commonwealth The
Rev Dr W H Felix of Lexing
ton will be the other speaker at
v the farewell service He is known
as one of the most eloquent preach
m ers in the Baptist denomination in
the South and has spoken at many
important occasions of a kind simi
lar to the one next Sunday night
Special services will be furnished
for the farewell services by Vohr
leys band and a large chorus choir
of several hundred voices Nearly
all the churches in the vicinity of
the Armory are planning to close
their night services in order to give
thei congregation an opportunity
bf attending the farewell service
Dr S S Waltz one of the long
est term pastors in the city will
< a preside and introduce the speakers
Other local ministers who will take
part in the service are Dr E Y

Hundreds of inquiries are receiv
ed daily by T L Jefferson and his
committee in regard to the several
features of the Armory ball and
the demand for tickets has exceed
ed all expectations The ball will
be the greatest of its kind ever giv
enintle South The drill hall in
the new Armory is the largest I
floor ever thrown open for dancing
purposes It is 270x100 feet and
will easily accomaiodate 3oo > coup I
les without undue crowding j
Though the armory will be beau
lifully decorated for every event
during the week special decora I
tions which will enhance its ap
pearance will be putm Friday I
morning in order that allmay be j
in readiness for the ball on That I
evening A magnificent throne is I
being built for the queen Behind
her on the grand stand will be her
court and the chaperons
In distributing the tickets Mr
Jefferson and his committee decid
ed that the visitors should be first
considered and the greater portion
of the invitations will be reserved I
exclusively for them The tickets I
to be distributed in Louisville will
be distributed through the Home
coming Week Committeemen each
ofwhoru will be entitled to admis
sion on his badge and will have in
addition fi ve invitations Sub
scribees to the Home coming Week
fund will also be provided with in
vitations The committee wishes
it distinctly understood that no
children will be admitted to the
ball even though their parents are
provided with tickets and they
will reauest all those who have
tirketo to bear this in mindas the
Reception Committee would not
like to be embarrassed by refusing
admission to parents who bring
their children
Arrangements have been made
for music during the balland an
orchestsa and brass band will play
alternately The marches and wc
steps will be played by the brass
baud while the pi chest ra will pIp y
the waltz music The promenades
and balcony willafford an opportu
nity for those who do not care to
dance to view the opening ceremo
nies and the dancing without un
necessary crowding
