Of Two Men a Merchant and An Out
law Found in Kentucky

and partially decomposed bodies of
two persons One was a merchant and
the other an outlaw The first was
thatDf Benjamin Chestnut 85 on the
Cumberland river near Burnalde It
is believed he was murdered robbed
and his body thrown over the cliff
The other was that of Charles I
Meade on Ross creek Estlll county
All signs point to assassination by his
enemies with no intention to rob him
as his two revolvers and his money
were on his person Meade was out
lawed by his alleged murder of A J
Porter In Scott county Virginia and
900 was offered for his capture He
also killed a deputy sheriff

service rules prohibit the annual
shake down of federal office holders
In this state the order has been re
ceived bore from Louisville it Is said
to collect 5 per cent of the salaries of
the mall carriers postal clerks and
other officials to be used this year by
the republican campaign committee
The mall carriers will not feel this
assessment so heavily because they re
reived au Increase in their salaries
