Mrs. H. A. Irvin lias returned from ii two week's visit at Slid hyville. Dorris T. Mize, of Louisville, visited relatives in the oity the lirst of the week. V. K. Mrs. Noah Rose and two daugh ter, Misses Gertrude and Vena, spent the latter part of the week with the former's sister, Mrs. A. M. Burgher. We have had good rains this week and with prevailing warm weather following all kinds of small grain and grass will start to growing again. Small grain lias grown but little owing to so much dry and cold weather. Read the announcement of Stanton College on the first page of this issue. There are many young people in this county "who need a better education and there is no better place to get it than at the Stanton College. Millard Whiteman died at Ir vine Friday, Nov. 20th, of typhoid fever. Funeral services by the Rev. W. P. Fryman. Deceased was a nephew of Mrs. Wm. Mountz, Sr., of this city, and Mr. Taulbeo Mountz attended the funeral. J. T. Potts, the N. Y. Central tie inspector, who has been in Tennessee and Alabama for the past, six months, and who came home to spend Thunksgivingje turned to, his business in the South Monday and will again be away from the city until the X inas holidays. Residence Burned. The house occupied by George Morris was burned early Satur day morning. The building caught from a defective flue and was one of the dwellings owned and rented by the Kentucky Union Company. The house had been on fire more than once he fore, but each time had been put out. It was only by the heroic efforts of the neighbors that the residence of Mr. D. R.
