m I a ' 1 FRANKFORT KOILNMBOUT. Eatored attho at Frankfort, Kentucky ai second class mailable mutter. GEORGE A. LEWIS, E Alter asicL FRANKFORT, DECEMBER 2U, 18S2. flefore another issue appears Christnm will have come atul gone, bringing, we hope pi ensure to nil nnd grief to none. This is tiie pennon that more there any other Wrings childhood Itnck, nnd how we revel in memories of our youthful dnys, remembering what joy Santn' Clans brought us; nnd although every circle has been broken, vet we believe tlmt till who are left, like us, will travel backward over "time in its (light," and meet together at the old homestead on Christmas day. And while the older ones are in thought living their young lives over again, the boys and girls of to-day are left without restraint to enjoy the pres. ent. The noise of the boys grates less harshly on our ears; in truth we can enter light heartily into all of their romps ami plays. Christmas of all the year should make us happier, in that we should be more charitable, more forgiving and thankful, ns it is the day we celebrate as the birth of a dear, loving Savior, bringing " peace on earth good will to men." Ami now to our subscribers, one and all, we wish vou a merry Christmas. There has been a grunt deal said about the quality of the gas furnished by the Ga Company, ond that corporation is receiving a liberal share of abuse at the hands ol some of our citizens just now on account of it. At for outsell we have iieni content to wait until the Company could put in their new machinery nnd get the works in thorough running order before we began to coin- lain, Knowing tiie gentleman in cnargc 01 the affairs of the Company well enough to believe that they would do their utmost to furnish a good article. Many claim that the Company hove had ample time to make the necessary repairs, and the gns is as good now as if will ever be. This we believe will prove to be a mistake, and we base our belief upon the statement f a practical mechanic of this city, who has been engaged in putting up the machinery. He says that the old works, when the new company took charge of them, could not have been run two months longer without five or six thousand dollars being expended upon them. That in order to avoid shutting on" the gas altogether from the city the work of putting in the new machinery was. done gradually, which of course tiolc time, and in addition to this many uufotseeu difficulties which had to be surmounted, and of course, caused still (Hither delay. Hesavs Mr. II. D. Fitch hai done In-, utmost to push forward the work and to get the machinery in complete running order &o that good gas might be supplied a- speedily ns possible. He snvs that he w confident that within the next two or three weeks the Company will be able to furnish a- good a qunlitv if not better gas than anv that has been supplied to our citizens heretofore. In confirmation of the truth of this statement, the quality of light has been steadily improving for the last three nights and would it not be fair for our citizens to wait yet u little longer before they begin to kick so vigorously V Death of Mrs. Averill.
