Thinking the house was on fire t'uev hurried in, when to their surprise the light had disappeared. They were then convinced some one was in the house and Mrs. Lvons went out into the street to call for help while Miss Anna remained to watch for the burglar, and she did not have to wait very long, for n low, heavy set black rascal came rushing down the steps as boon as he heard Mrs. Lyons calling to someone on the street, darted out of the door, and ran down the street, followed by Mrs. L., who chased him to the corner of Main and Second and saw him disappear down Buttle Alley, Oflicer Smith was soon on the ground and mndu an arrest, but tho ladies failed to identify the man and he was released. The fellow had evidently just gotten in and was taking his time when the ladies arrived, for they missed nothing, though a bureau drawer had been opened by him. "Bough on Rats." Christmas at the Feeble-minded Institute. On Monday evening Dr. J. Q. A. Stewart, his estimable lady, and the teachers at the Feeble-minded Intilute gave an entertainment for the amusement of the children of the institution and invited a number of friends from this city to witness it.' nnd all who attended were amply repaid for their visit. In the ulternoon an elegant repast was spread, which was partaken of by a large number of guests, and early in the evening the company were invited into the chapel, which had been beautifully decorated and prepared lor the occasion. Two large Christmas trees filled with presents stood one on each side of the stage, nnd immediately above appeared the words in evergreen, "Merry Christmas." When the company were all seated Dr. Stewart, in n few appropriate remarks, welcomed them, and then the programme given below was gone through with. The tableaux were exceedingly interesting, and the recitation. and declamations were given in splendid stjle. In fact, it was a first class entertainment in every respect. The exeroices were begun by singing "Glory to God in the Highest" by n number ol the pupils, after which the following; 1. Tableau of the seasons Spring, Summer, Autumn, nnd Winter. 2. After the distribution the invited guests returned to their homes, with the exception of some fifteen or twenty couples of young people who remained und enjoyed a social dance for an hour or two in the Chapel. The Institution, under its present efficient management, is one that not only our people but the whole State may well be proud of, and it should be amply provided for in future to enable it to continue its good work of throwing light upon tho clouded intellects of the unfortunate ones of our Commonwealth. $100 Reward Is offered for any case of Catarrh that can't be cured with Hall's Catarrh Cure.
