The survey of the preliminary line of railroad from this citv to Alton, to connect tho Kentucky Midland and Louisville Southern Railways, has been completed, and the corps of engineers lefc for Mt. Sterling Thursday and are now engaged in surveying for a branch line of the Kentucky Midland from North in Bourbon county, to that city. Tho probabilities are now very strong that the Midland will be extended in both directions. Aquatic Exhibition. Capt. L. D. Blondell will give an exhibition of marvelous swimming at Tyrone to-morrow afternoon. Tho Steamer Little Sandy and barge will take an excursion party from Monterey and this city to witness the performance. Tho Lexington Transcript of Sunday contained the following: Manager Ramsey will run an excursion and take his crack Lexington team to Frankfort on Wednesday to down the Capital City club. The home team has played six games this year and won all of them. Frankfort has been victorious in all it3 contests and is willing to bet that no semi-professional club in the State can down them, and to use Mr. Ramsey's expression, "we are going down to take some of the conceit out of them." Half fare excursion rate3 will prevail and a large crowd should go down to cheer the boys. Lexington will have the same team with which it beat tho crack Mohawk Browns and it is safe to say it will tako a League team to win the ball. ' As manager Ramsey telegraphed the locals, on Tuesday morning, to cancel the date, we suppose the operation has been indefinitely postponed. Mrs. H. E.
