The charm of the music made by John
Philip Sousa the March Ring and
his -superb band attracted a splendid
audience to the Paris Grand yesterday
afternoon despite the zero weather
which prevailed The band played the
classic selections in perfect form and put
the usual contagious magnetism in the
King Cotton and El Captain marches
The vocal solo- by Mrs Elizabeth
Northrop and violin solo by Miss
Martina Johnson were artistic triumphs
and were well received The trombone
solo by Arthur Pryor was a most de
lightful number The band plays in
Maysville this afternoon
Lillian Nordica the famous American
singer will appear in a concert at the
Lexington Opera House on Feb 13th
Nordica8 real name is Lillian Norton
and she was born at Farmington
Maine She received her early musical
instruction in Boston and afterwards in
Italy where she made her debut in 1883
She sang at the Bayreuth festival of 1894
and has a repertoire of forty operas in
which she has never known else but
success
Polk Miller who has entertained so
many Kentuckians in his inimitable
way at the Lexington Chautauqua will
give An Evening of Story and Sontf
in this city next Tuesday night under
the auspices of the Methodist ladies
