January, "Paris, Ky., ' "My Dear Sir: I have been trav eling considerable over the country, especially Central and Southern. In diana, and I have been very much, impressed by two facts one, the splendid factpry interests at the small towns in indiana; and sec ond, the entires-lack of factories in our Kentucky towns. This condi tion is deplorable, for it leaves the towns in Kentucky with no income excepting that Which is derived from. the farming sections, immedi ately around the towns, handling farm products and selling machinery and supplies to the farmers. "In former times our State was iot in this condition, from the very fact that we had 327 distilleries in the State, that did a large interna tional business and brought mil lions of dollars into our various towns. This business is gone for ever, and it is up to the business men of each of the towns to work for the establishment of 'different kinds of factories, that would bring in additional workmen and the lo cation of other families, which go a long ways toward building up and keeping alive your excellent city. "We have a plan for bringing to the attention of small factories, looking for location, which would lead up eventually to getting a few good factories in Paris. Your farm ers, youi merchants and your banks have plenty of money at this time to help finance such factories. "I am handing a copy of this let ter to the editor of THE BOURBON NEWS, as an open letter, and will ask him to publish it, to help get a movement of this kind started.
