Because it is an economical car. Its economy comes from light weight and perfect balance. Drop forgirgs save weight are stronger. We use 247 more than any other car. Heat treated steel saves weight is stronger wears longer. We use more than any other car. The SIX motor is more power ful, more smooth and uses less fuel than a "Four" of larger size. The Studebaker SIX is easy on tires easy on fuel because it weighs less than 3000 pounds. That ': why owners are satisfied. Why sa'.es are greater than any other "Six." Sailing under almost perfect weather conditions, judged from the yachtsman's standpoint, the Hervesholf -designed Resolute defeated Alexander S. Cochran's Vanitie off Bye, X. ., yesterday in the second trial race for 73-foot sloops-, candidates for America cup defender in the races set for Septem ber against Sir Thomas Upton's challen- L ' I 1 -I - nil i ... tter, .namiocu. i. j no Kesolute s vic tory over the Gardner boat came after a l!o-mile race on the waters of Long Is land sound by a margin of 11 seconds. On estimated corrected time this was in creased to 3 minutes 12 seconds. The yachtsmen who " witnessed' the race were not so much concerned with the times as they , were satisfied at having seen the two cun defense aspirants com peting under far more favorable condi tions than those prevailing ' in Tuesday's initial contest, when the Vanitie was re turned victor bv a margin of manv min utes after having sailed twice around a triangular .-course in winds of the flukiest nature. These nautical experts felt that last night they had a better line on the tbility of the two sloops than could be formed from Tuesday's race. Such conclusions as were reached after yesterday's test are at best but tentative, for -the race, a beat to windward, proved little beyond the fact that in the present condition of the boats the Resolute is a trifle faster in moderate airs. The Van itie's sails are not as yet setting satisfac torily, and although in a run off wind she appeared a trifle faster the advantage o( several weeks of tuning up by the Reso lute showed clearlv in the course of the race. Until the Vanitie has further op portunity for a thorough tuning up ami the yachts have met in a strong wind, close followers of yacht racing will lie loath to express anv opinion regarding the relative merits of the sloops.
