Miss Stella Micott returned to Springfield Sunday by train, having a call to come to care for a former pa tient, who was ill. Mrs. Guy Wyman of Londonderry visited Miss Mabel Phillips Friday and Saturday. Miss Phillips returned home with her for a few days' stay in Lon donderry. Mrs. Fred Smith of West street, who has been ill a week, is able to be out. Mr. Smith's mother, Mrs. Mary Denis, who came to care for her, returned Wednesday to Keene. Mrs. Harriet Martin and little son, Norman, returned from Springfield Tuesday night. He is making a good recovery from the operation he under went in tho Springfield hospital. Tho cement sidewalks are being ex tended on West street and will end at, tho residence of Mr, and Mrs. F. S. Morse, the last house within t ho village limits on that side of the street. Mrs. Abby Fond is building a deep veranda on her new house, recently bought of tho Ward estate, Russell Blood and his brother of Townshend having charge of the carpentry work. Clinton Pratt of Brattleboro. has in stalled electric lighting apparatus' in the homes of A. T. Warren, town clerk, Mrs. Abby Pond and Ralph Gushing on West street and added a few more lights in Union hall. Mrs. Gilbert Batchelder left Friday for Northampton, where she will visit a few days with relatives before going to spend tho rest of her summer vaca tion in the home of her parentis, "Mr. and Mrs. 1 ream, lormerly or New ifane, in Monti video, Minn. i M. Mrs. Inez Moore, accompanied bv Dr. F. L. Osgood, went Monday to Rut land, taking her little daughter, Mar garet, for examination by the noted specialist, Dr. Robert W. Lovett of New York, at the free clinic in the Rutland hospital. Dr. Lovett said this was the third case on record where a child had suffered a second attack of the disease with which she is ainieted, but in this case there was a doubt as to whether the second attack might not have been the result of a fall. The little girl is able to walk, but her limbs do not gain in strength as rapidly as could be wished. EAST DOVER. J. M. Moore spent a few davs Springfield, Mass., recently. (Hattie Bruce) Priest, who died recently in her home in Bel mont, was a daughter of the late jrri son and Hannah (Charter) Bruce ff Marlboro, sister of the late AV. Ellis Bruce of Marlboro. She leaves two brothers, Charles II. Bruce of Brat tleboro and George A. Bruce of Denver, Colorado. Her death was suddeu and unexpected, as she had been in nsiml health and had spent the eveniii' cLat ting and laughing happily with nieces j who were visitiiur her.
