Nichols, now of Barre, has been appointed admimstrator of his father's estate and will sell the farm here. Miss Alico Walker was a great snffor er last week in hor illness, though somewlmt rolioved the latter part of the week. Azro E. Nichols, who died here last week, wife born in Barre, Aug. 7, 1827. Ho was the son of Reubon and Sylvia Albeo Nichols, ono of sixteen children. Wlien a young nian ho took up the blacksmith's trado, but gavo it up for farm lifo, which ho followed inainly to tho end. In 1854 ho married Calista Hubbard, while living in Barre, who died in 18GG. In 1807 ho married Emily Gunnison, who died here in 1874, he having moved here and purchased tho Reuben Hatch farm in 18G8. One son, A. Ernest Nichols, was tho only ohild by this mar riage. In 1875 he married Sarah Flagg, of Southbobro, Mass., who died last year, leaving ono daughcer, Miss Gracie Nichols. In August, 1804, Mr. Nichols onlisted in tho Third Vermont Battery, Light Artil lery, and served in tho war "of tho re bellion, having boen mustered out June 15, 1805. While yet a young man Mr. Nichols became a membor ot a church, and on coming here he transferred his relationship to tho Congregational church of which ho remained a dovotod member whilo he lived. Ono charactoristio of this devo tion was his presence at the Sunday services through all these years, as a mle, only as providontially preveuted. He was ono of such social naturo that it was always a pleasnro to meet and visit with him.
