Oct 27 PROSPECTUS FOR PUBLISHING A MONTHLY PAPER IN BALTIMORE, TO BE c AI.LED the CULTURIST. On subjects co nnccted with Agriculture, to include nn Emigrants’ Department, containing such in formation a.i may he useful to persons making a settlement i n the West, or seeking new fields of agricultural enterprise. TilE SUBSCRIBER proposes to issue a monthly aheet, in quarto form, of sixteen pa ges, on huatiandrv, pastoral affairs, ami kindred subjects :—a portion of the paper to be occupied with notices geographical, statistical and historical of such portions of the West as will be of most in terest to Western settlers, and also of portions of the South. Agricultu re is the most ancient occupation of man. It is also the moat useful, the most indepen dent, the happiest, the most healthy, the most pro fitable and t he most honorable. Hut this is not all. Agriculture comprehends in itself more science, than any other occupation in the whole circle of human pursuits and industry. Geology, chemistry, vegetable physiology, all make a part of tlic thorough knowledge of this most ex tensive and useful art. They are indeed but the beginnings of the vast field of knowledge contain ed within it. So that if a man can he a thorough agriculturist, he will be in the large sense of the word a learned man. Partners however have been, to a great extent, opposed to what they called science, or book-farm ing, from a mistaken idea that whatever was in print was merely spec illative, and matter of theory. If it were so indeed, they would be right in con demning it. It is however a mistaken idea. Sci ence is the result of experience and practice. It is the ripe harvest of fat Is, rouped not by one man in one field, but gathered by all the laborers through out all the harvest fields of the earth in year after year frutn the beginning. E very intelligent farmer likes to talk to hlsncmh or, and draw advantage from his experience* — This experience is no 1cm valuable fur brine- de livered to him in print, by types, than if it should be given to him by his neighbor, by word of mouth. It 1* the #mmo thing*. Skill in the manual of hoeing and ploughing can never make a farmer. It. makes only an apprentice in the art. Since the multiplication of agricultu ral papers and societies in this country, there has been a great improvement in the state of agricul ture. s It is designed to give j„ this paper alt useful gen eral intelligence relatin g to rural affairs and econ omy, whether of implements, stocks, seeds, modes of culture, articles of cultivation, soil*, or fertilizers* and such discoveries of srieace as may assist light en and make more profitable the hardy and hon orable toil of the farmer. A secondary object will be to give information to persons making settlement in the West: from per sonal knowledge mostly-so that they will be aide to make judicious selections, and proceed in the es tablishing of 1 heir new h- mes to best advantage, and some description of the lands of Marvland and Virginia, with the modes of renovating them. The price will be one dollar, invariably in ad vance. Agricultural and Emigration Hoeletje*. and oth ers who subscribe for one hundred ronic-e or more will be supplied at #75 per hundred. ' postmasters and country collcrtors are requested to art as agent*. All snrh will hc allowed 2ff her rent; and any person sending five dollars will have six copies. Oat l« WM. J. A. BRADFORD. The patent galvanic rings, & MAGNETIC FLUID.—This remarkable dis rovery has received the universal approbation of the Medical Profession of Great Britain, and has been sufficiently Ionbefore the American public to give a luir trial of its power and efficacy. The I A I EN I G ALV A NIC KINGS have been found to answer all tho purposes for which ordinaly Galvan ic Battery or Electric and Magnetic Machines are used, but are without any of tlie injurious shocks winch accompany the applications by those instru ments. and in many other respeols are more sate and certain in accomplishing the desired object. The Galvanic Rings have been used with perfect success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chron ic, applying to the head, face or limbs; Gout, Tic Dolorcux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralysis, Palsy, I Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of fhc Heart! Apoplexy, Stiffness of Joints, Lumbago. Neuralgia General Debility. Deficiency of Nervous Energy! I and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed | Dyspepsia they have been successful. Their extra ordinary effects upon the system must b# witnessed to be believed; and as a certain preventive for the til rove complaints they ure equally to he recom mended. I he Galvanic Rings are in every way perfectly harmless, and are sold at prices to be within the roach of all. Cristik’b Magnetic Ft-um is used in connection with the Rings, to render their efficient action certain, and to direct the Gal vanic influence to the particular portions which are affected.
