One of the most valuable additions that has been laid out to the city if; the Glade property. This is situated "just east of Glade Creek and immediately on the dum? my line. The fact that it has this line running through it makes it exceed? ingly more valuable, as it brings it in close proximity to the center of the city. The fare over the line is only live cents, and places it within the reach of all who attend church, do the marketing and everything of that sort in this part of the city. By hav? ing a home in this addition a person can enjoy all the pleasures of a ml - urban residence and yet get the ben? efits of city conveniences. The addition is being laid oil' by wide streets and avenues, and build' ing sites are rapidly being told. It ii well drained and therefore verv healthy. A company has been organized to erect a water-works plant and the reservoir will probably be erected at an- early date. When this is done this section can be supplied with the clear fluid from the Minilh spring, which in only a short distance away. A system of sewerage is to be inaugu? rated and tlie sanitary condition im? proved, though this is hardly neces? sary, as sickness is almost unknown. The view from the Glade Add don is one of the Gnest tojbe obtained anywhere in this section. Tall moun? tain peaks, the Roanoke river valley and extensive forests are all in full view and form a picture that is very beautiful. One of the best things about this property is the easy terms on which it can be purchased: Any one can save a few dollars a week from his salary and the lots can be secured so cheap that a few dollars a week saved will almost be sufficient to cover fc. I Here is a vast country with the best climate in the world, with conditions of health which are absolutely unparalleled, with vast forests untouched) with enormous veins of coal and iron, which yet have not known anything beyond their original conditions; with ..oil that, under proper cultivation, for little capital can suppor,: a tremendous population; with conditions ?n ?ia atmosphere for comfortaRuTiiving winter and summer which exist nowhere else in the country; and that is to be the attraction for the young men who go 1 out from the farms to sc 2k settlement, and not by immigration from abror.d, o for I do not think they will ' go that way?but by the inter? nal immigration from our own country it is to become in time as prosperous as any other section of the country and as prosperous by a purely American develop? ment. 1 ? t ? * These words apply partic? ularly to Roanoke and vicin? ity, and SCOTT 4 ii will furnish any information; that mav be desired as to how to secure bargains in Roanoke property. 4.' ..'. - ':._? .. ???
