4 Our Little Woman By JACK NAKAMOTO Recently to a short Nisei girl in London. the writer some what bluntly advised against her Wearing shoes—with ankle straps! They only made her look more like a “half-pint", giving the illusion of shorter legs. in defense, she said she preferred straps. for they eanionflage her thiek ankles. Well, right there and then, she made a eontradietory remark in that, the straps. on the contrary. only emphasim- the thickness of her ankles. An ankle strap is a functional line as it follows the eontour of her ankle. thus aiding in bringing out the shape or the breadth of her tarsus. To top it off. the white shade of her shoes made the-mi more conspicuous. l By the way, red shoes are the ones most often requested at shoe dealers. Perhaps that exeellent English movie. “The le Shoes,” has left a trail of luihlieity that eventually led women to buy red shoes. To a psyehologist it '8 probably an indication of a woman ’s subconscious longing for glmnour. adventure. pas sion or what haw you! At any rate. red shoes are usually suitable for our little wonnm. so she shouldn’t be bothered with her lssei parents clubbing her “oshwre”. After all. it’s a known fact that vanity is sanity in the female. Baek to the third nrtiele. At the end of the first paragraph. the editor or a printer erroneously deleted n sentence or twa which the writer feels should he liroucht up now before it’s all forgotten. We diseusml eolors with yellow undertone as usually being ideal for our little woman as it flatten-s her elear ivory skin. Well. the following.’ senteuees should have also been added: Furthermore. hamhoo eolor is the neeessory eolor of the season. going beautifully well with almost anything. And yellow is ae tually the leading summer eolor in wool. silk and eotton. During these hot muggy «lays. it ’s highly important for our little woman to eonsider seeurity in a soeial sense—seenrity. too. of the attention and nft'eetion of her boy-friend, by checking perspiration odor. Deodorants are elassifietl into two groups: one that, prevents odor and the other that ohm-ks it. The preventative group in eludes preparations designed to destroy haeteria on the skin and prevent odor. These inelude ereams. liquids and powders whieh combine nntiseptie and odor-nmskina ingredients. They aren’t likely to muse harm. lmvinc temporary henet‘its but are not always effective. The anti-perspirant grmm of aids inelndes those prepara tirms whieh contain astringents. These are ereated to close. skin pnres under the arms. for exa'vmle. elm-king nerspiration at that area and diverting its flow tn other parts of the skin where it’ll more readily evaporate. The newest on the market is a ileodm‘zmt-eolosrne. wlliell our Niseiette may use in eonjnnetion with the eream variety. under her arms or anywhere on her limlv nffeoted by perspiration. Fortunately. our little woman iwnally doesn’t suffer as muell from perspiration odor as her lmlmiin qisters. So perhaps slie man just merrily spray deodomnt-eolmzne all over lier body. doing away eompletely with gooey eremn. wliieli gives stiekr fingers and leaves trnees on skin and elothes. ‘ Racial Issue Mav Ha v 9 Caused Arson: Pavment of Insurance is Dnlaved GLENDALE. 03111. Anybody who plays golf is a “golf er" . . which is. gramaticallv speaking. a neutral noun. A golfer can either be a man or a women. But. anyone who fishes is a. “fish erman" . . . and that is definitelv a masculine noun. You look through the dictionary and you won't find any feminine noun such as "fisher woman" or even a “fisherhng” . . . because there ain't no such animal. But. leave it to a woman to contra dict even Mr. Webster. Getting lnto this thing a bit deep er, let‘s take my case. Back in Idaho my wife insisted she wanted to go fishing with me. I told her. “Fish ing's too rough for women". She flatly refused to be a “fishing wid ow" and sit at home Sunday after Sunday. crochetlng, knitting. or just Dlain sulklng. We argued back and forth. until finally. we did what always comes naturally . . . I decided to take her fishing with me. What I should have done was to take her to a place called “Rattle snake Gulch" where she'd have to climb down a almost perpendicular canyon and run .a. chance of meet ing a rattler or two. and when she’s through fishing. sweating through a one-hour climb back up the cliffs. That sure would have made her quit fishing and take up crocheting. But. like a cluck that I am. I did what I usually do . . , made a big boner . . . I'll tell you what I did in my next installment.
