City Got His Forfeit?Charles Flyn '
was arrested by the city officers Saturday
for being drunk. Over the week
end he put up a forfeit of $5.00 to appear
the Monday morning session of j
police court but did not show up.
Fight Cost $20.?Dummy Millan and
Frank Toothman were arrested at the
Roush House by city officers charged
with fighting. They each put up a
forfeit of $10. Neither of the two
men appeared at the session of police
court this morning.
Speeder Arrested?G. M Hale was
stopped by Traffic officer Ward Saturday
for speeding out Pennsylvania
avenue twenty-five biles per hour with
an open cut out. The case was continued
until tomorrow morning at 9
a. m. Hale put up a forfeit of $10 for
his appearance. j
He Drove Recklessly?Darrell Mays
was arrested by city officers charged
with speeding and reckless driving at
Quincy and Jackson streets. He put
up a forfeit of S10 to appear at police
court this morning but dd not show,
up to deny the charges.
Hear From Soldier Son?Mr. and
Mrs. J. S. Pitrer. of Locust avenue. I
on Saturday got two letters from their ,
son Arthur, who has been on the oth- i
er side since early in June and from I
whom they had not heard since he '
left. He had been getting the letters
from home regularly and had been:
writng just as regularly, but for some j
reason the mail was miscarrying.

Man y Attended teh
Funeral of Fred Horne
A large number of people were
present yesterday at the funeral services
over the body of Fred Horne
who was killed accidentally on Wednesday
at the mines at Grant Town.
The throng included members of the
United Mine Workers Union numbering
about 1,000 members of which
Horne was president at the time of his
death. The services were held at Bal-;
lah Chapel conducted by the Rev. H.
G. Stoetzer. of the First Presbyterian
church of this city. Prior to leaving
the boarding house where Home had
resided a brief service was conducted

Each Man Must Register in
the Ward in Which He
Lives.
The boundary of each city ward,
exact location of the registration place
in each ward and the chief registrars
and their assistants for, the military
registration on Thursday are listed below.
Assistant registrars were appointed
by the draft board Saturday
upon the recommendation of the chief
registrars.
A corps of school teachers has been
organized for each ward and will assist
in copying registration cards as the
men register. In previous registrations
but one card was made necessitating
much work following the registration.
The local board lias the work
so planned that on Thursday all thi3
work will be done just as the raen register.
The local draft board desires to emphasize
that each man must register
in the ward in which he resides. Men
residing in Fairmont district outside
the city limits will register at Barrackville.

Dies in Kansas City
Dr. J. H. Lucas, pastor of the Metho
dist Protestant Temple from 1902 to
1905, is dead at his nome at Kansas
City, according to a message received
here yesterday by Dr. J. C. Broomfield.
the present pastor of the Temple.
Dr. Lucas has been in failing
health for some time, and at the time
of his death was chancellor of the
Kansas University, at Kansas City.
Mo. He is survived by his wife, two
sons and one daughter.
