[ > Clay Made Farrar a Bride.
)' -,The photoplay that made Geraldlne
Farrar a bride, "Maria Rosa," will bo
the attraction at the Nelson theatre
today. This has been called "the phoUtoplay
that made Geraldino Faraar a
bride," because it was while Miss
.. Farrar was at the Lasky studios in
f. ^California making this production that
she first met Mr. Lou-Tellegen, the
striding young actor, whom she married
in New York several months later.
In "Maria Rosa," Mi/a Farrar has
a part quite different from the role of
"Carmen" or Rene Dupree in "Tempi
tation." In this Spanish tragedy, taken
from the play by Guidio Marburg
I and Wallace Gilipatrick and founded
on the story by Angel Gulmera, Miss
-^Farrar appears as u young Spanish
Jppeasant girl, for whose hand two admirers
aro in eager contest. One of,
the youths, Ramon, is of a Jealous nature
and liked by Maria Rosa. The
other, Andres, is her favorite. These
voles are played respectively by Pedro:
do Cordoba and Wallace Held.
Jiamuu manages iu icuiuvu uio *?J
vored Andres by having Wm falsely
accused of crime for which he is sentenced
to a long prison, term. Believing
Andres dead, Maria Itosa, after
j much persuasion, finally consents to
marry Ramon. On the wedding day
Andres returns and the whole plot is
revealed to the heartbroken Maria
Rosa. The finish of the play is with
Ramon's death and the happy uniting
of the two real lovers.

Weekly is interesting, covering as it

The title indicates the general
trond of tiie story which is absorbing
and ends in a liappy manner.
"Pretty Baby" at Hipp.
"Pretty Paby" the musical comedy
which Jimmle Hodges win present to
the patrons of the Hippodrome tiieatro
next Monday night is one of the
best singing r.-.tractions on the road.
All the way y *'n from Geo. B. Twyraan
and Rene Vincent to the humble choristers,
the voices are excellent. Twyman
is a rare combination of singer
and comedian and is more than proficient
in both lines. Not only is Miss
Vincent comely of person and a graceful
dancer, but her vocal effort stamp
her a vocalist more melodious than
is usually found in the field of musical
comedy . TTiere aro two others in
the cast, Ollie Hodges and Adelaid*
Slack who are very little If any behind
the stars in the cast as to comedy and
also run up to them as vocalists. The
'I'rotty Baby" trio, a male trio is an
excellent organization heard In many
popular harmony numbers. The male
chorus is well worth while. The standing
of the show however is not wholly
dependent upon the vocal efforts.
"Pretty Baby" is brim full of new and
original novelties. The scene "Patriotism"
which closes the first act is
unusually gorgeous and tuneful, and
the last scene atop'of a New York Roof
Garden is one which will be remembered.
