It is suggested that the Massachusetts legislative delegation to the Bennington celebration in August, take with them the old brass drums, muskets and other relics captured by Gen. Stark and by him pre sented to the Legislature of Massachusetts, and which have so long formed an interest ing feature in tho Massachusetts Senate chamber. Their appearanco in the proces sion would be appropriate and suggestive. It is 'tated that President Hayes has invited his uncle, the venerable Austin Richard, of Fayetteville, who is HI years old, to make bim a visit at tho White House, and Mr. Richard declines on account of bis age and physical iofirmity and also his disinclination to mingle in society on account of the death of kis daughter Mary, who was killed at Ashtabula; and so tho President will probably visit tho old gentle man himself early in the Summer. He served on the jury at tho recent session of the county court. His wifo went to Hincsburgh a few weeks go, and Mr. Vicle went thither for a visit on Monday. After arriving, about fivo in the afternoon, he complained a little of headache from riding in tho hot sun, but ate a hearty supper and retired about nine o'clock. He was restless during the night and slept but little. At half-past five, Mrs. Viole left him, and returned in twenty minutes to find that ho had ceased to breathe. His ago was sixtj -eight year, seven months and twenty days. Ho was a man of many genial and worthy personal qualities, aod hat a wide circle of acquaintances and friend, who will learn with sorrow of his decease. The Reform Movement. The meeting at the clcb room, Wednesday, was even more enthusiastic than the night before, and the increasing interest augurs success. There was quite a number of signatures given to tho pledge, and onoot the plcauntct features of the evening was tho heartiness with which the members of No. 2, which dis banded a few weeks since, came forward at the invitation of Club No. 1, and joined hands with them in this new movement. A spirit of kindness and brotherly love pre vails in these meetings, and tho heartiness with which the beautiful gozpel hymns are sung, cannot fail to impress every hearer with the new earnestness and zeal which aro glowing in every heart. Short but spicy speeches were mado by several gen tlfmen, among which tho most highly ap preciated seemed to bo that of Mr. Peter Smith, whoso straight-forward, common- sense remarks pleased and edified every ono present Mrs. Molloy followed in a person al appeal, which must have reached tho hearts to which it was sent, as thero was a rush when the pledge was offered, which seemed quite like the meetings of a year ago. One of the brightest and pleasant est oc casions of the kind that has been witnessed in our city in many a day was tho marriage of Miss "Lottie" Arthur, eldest daughter of our townsman, John A. Arthur, to Lieu tenant Karl Rohrcr, U. S. N., which took place Tuesday afternoon. St. Paul's church was filled before the hour with friends of the family. The font was decked with flowers. The service was con ducted by Rev. Dr. Weaver, of New York, assisted by Rev. Louis A. Arthur, brother of the bride whoso ordination took place in the same spot last Sunday Rev. Mr. Atwill, Rector of St. Paul's, and Rev. A. Hopkins being also present in tho chancel. Tho wedding procession. it passed up tho centre aisle (at half-past two), consisted of the bride, on her father's arm; Mrs. Arthur, on tho arm of the groom; Miss Mary Ed monds and Miss Mary Arthur, bridesmaid", accompanied respectively by Lieutenant Elliot Arthur, and Mr. Elias Lyman, groomsmen; and little Mis-.es Arthur and Hopkins, flower bearers, who, after the ceremony, strewed flowers before tho feet of the happy pair on their way from the altar. The ushers were Mr. Edwin E. Dickinson, and Mr John F. Richardson. Professor Wood presided at tho organ. An elegant reception followed at the bouse. The skies smiled their fairest on the joyful occasion , and "all went merry as a marriago bell." Mr. and Mrs. Rohrer, after the wcddjng tour, will reside at Washington, whero Lieu tenant Rohrcr is stationed. The Middlebury Ht'gisttr says Elias Buel, of Bristol, an old man, left that place in the early evening, recently, to go to Middle- bury, across tho lots. Ho became bewil dered, went east when be wanted to go west, and lell into Beaver brook; resumed his wanderings for an hour or ho, fell into the stream again, came out wet as a drown ed rat. and started on again. At length, about eleven or twelve o'clock, ho reached Mr. Darius Severance's barn, wbero ho put up, in his wet clothing, for the night. Mr. R. II. Foster, a gentleman who died at Hartford, the other day, made a will in 16CS, in which ho gavo $10,000 in trust to Joseph II. Hawlcy, William A. Bucking ham, and Francis Gillette, the income to bo ucd for ten years "for tho dissemination of sound political views and principles, tho trustees to be sole judges of what to dis- cminato and how to do it." But for the fact that Mr. Foster withdrew this bequest, in a codicil added in lr72, the itt'rc-t ot the $10,000 would probably havo been ex pended by the trustees for many years to come, in extending the circulation ul the Free 1'kls. It is just posiblc. however. that tho Hartford Courant might havo got ttloof it. A committee of the New York Legislaturo had Mr. Tweed beforo them, in Ludlow street jail, on Saturday, to inquire into the charges mado in hi confession again-t Sen ator Wood in and others. Mr. Tweed, in answer to que-tiona, declined testify ing mainly on the ground that ho might crimin ate) himself. Ho stated that ho was not re sponsible for the alleged confession. On his " arrival ho went for Iih counsel.Mr. Town send and told bim be had cnt word to tho Attorney-(icncral that ho was going tu give up all his effect, lie was advised to tabulate what he had to hay, and be did so with tho distinct understanding that no ono outside should see it, and that it Mas to bo returned if not approved by tho Atturnc-(Ieneral.
