Mrs. Mellon Smith, who three weeks ago left tho sanitarium after an opera tion, died Tuesday night of a cancerous disease of the stomach. U was only about six weeks ago that Mrs. Smith finally gave up and since then bad been unable to retain food. Mrs. Smith, who was Addle Hill, was married to Mellon Smith about 20 years ago. They lived on a farm on the road to Bralntree ad joining her father's farm. She was bap tized into the Baptist Church here dur ing the pastorate of the Rev. J. W. Chesbro about two years ago, since when she had been n constant attendant upon the services nt the Btalntreo Branch Church, interested in all that pertained to its progress. She was also a mem ber of tho Faithful and True Circlo of the King's Daughters at that place. Sho was a few months over 52 years of age. She Is survived by her husband nnd one brother, Hoyt Hill, who, with his wife, was with her at tho time of her death. Mrs. Bacon of Roxbury. an old friend, came Tuesday to aslst the family. The funeral will lie held at the Bralntree Branch Church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock.
