Domestic and imported champagne and other spnrkling waters . nd ar tificially carbonated wines, each bottle containg % pint or 1 6c; on each bottle containing m than Vi pint and not more than pint, 10c; on each bottle coritaini more than one pint and not exm ig 1 quart, 20 c; on all other con liners, 20c per quart. All liqueurs, cordials or milar compounds, domestic and im ted, by whatever name sold or ■ red for sale, on each bot> cont l ing not more than % pint, 1' on > ich bottle containing more th; % pint an dnot more thnn 1 pint, 3c on eaclt bottle containg more thgn 1 pint and not more than 1 quart. 6c; and on larger containers, at the rate of 24 c per gallon. All taxes so imposed to be by | stamps affixed to each bottle or con tainer when same is sold or offered i for sale. Wholesalers selling to any \ other person than a dealer shall affix stamps; provided the tax herein im posed shall not be collected on any j still wine used by red ' r, manu facturing chemist or drti gist in the j manufacture of any liqtie is, cordials or compounds subject to any internal revenue tax imposed by the act. The commissioner of internal rev enue shall cause to be prepared suit able and special stamps denoting the tax herein imposed, to be affixed and cancelled in such manner a lie. wi;li the approval of the secretary of tho treasury, may prescribe; anil in Hie absence of such stamps from any bot tle or container containing v ine, liqu er, cordial or compound taxable under the provisions of this section, shall be I prima facie evidence that the tax thereon has not been paid, and all such wines, liqueurs, cordials or com pounds shall be forfeited to the United States. SPECIAL ANNUAL TAXES PAY. ..ABLE ON AND AFTER NOVEM BER 1, 1914.—BANKERS One dollar for each $1,000 of capital used or employed, and In estimating capital, surplus and undivided profits shall be included, computed upon basis of capital, surplus and undivided profits for preq^j^ing fiscal year. Any person, corpbratlon or firm, re ceiving deposits subject to be paid or remitted upon draft, check or order, or advancing or loaning money on stocks, bonds, bullion, bills of ex-' change or promissory notes, or re ceiving same for discount or sale, Is deemed a banker. Postal savings and savings banks are exempt. BROKERS. A tax of $30. Defined os persons whose business is to regulate purchase or sales of stocks, bonds, exchange, bullion, coin ed money, bank noets, promissory notes, or other securities, for tliem Relves or others, "li broker has lipid tax as banker, he is exempt from fur ther tax. PAWN BROKERS. A tax of $50. Defined ns persons who receive, by ^ way of pledge, pnwn or exchange, my goods, wnres or merchandise, or any kind of personal property what 'vcr, ns security for the repayment of money lpaned thereon. COMMERCIAL BROKERS. A tax of $20. Defined ns persons whose business is to negotiate sales or purchases of goods, wares, produce or merchandise, nr who negotiate freights and other business for the owners of vessels or for their shippers or consignors, or consignees, of freight carried by ves sels. CUSTOMER HOUSE BROKERS. Defined ns persons who act ns agents of others, arranging entries and other custom house papers, or transacting business at any port of entry relating to the importation or exportation of goods, ware sor mer chandise. THEATRES, MUSEUMS AND CON CERT HALLS. Where charge is made for admis sion; $25 for seating capacity of 250 or less; $50 for seating capacity ex ceeding 250 and not exceeding 500; $75 for seating capacity exceeeding 500 and not exceeding 800; $100 for seating capacity of more than 800. “Every edifice used for the purpose of dramatic or opratic or other re presentations, plays, or performances, for admission to which entrance mon ey is received, not including halls or armories rented or used occasionally for concerts or theatrical representa tions, shall be regarded as a theatre; provided, that whenever any such edi fice is under lease at the passage of this act, the tax shall be paid by the lessee, unless otherwise stipulated be tween the parties to said lease.” Proprietors or agents of all other public exhibitions or shows for money which are not enumerated in this sec tion shall pay $10. The company has been operating near Mile 26 on the Alaska Northern road at Seward and in a let ter from the secretary, Edwin D. Cas ferline, it is stated that early in the spring they hope to arrive with a dredging outfit . FORTY MOOSE KILLED KENAI PENINSULA Dr. Baughman, game warden, esti mates the number of Moose killed on Keain peninsula this season at forty The season opened on August 20. Without looking at his records he says that the number of bears killed on tne peninsula was fifteen or twenty.
