The Weekly is of the opinion that this hill ought to In-come a law. The numerous small school houses dotted on almost every hill in Mis sissippi atford too meagre facilities of talent, interest or U nelit to the children to mea.-ure comiiiciisuratc ly with the enormous amount of money dishurscd to the teachers. The 1 rest educational talent of the State has Iteeii hammering for years to impress the Legislature with the necessity of enacting some law hy which these almost worthless schools may U- consolidated into strong central institutions of learning and the vast amounts of money that are wasted in them yearly In- made to Itcar returns to the children of the State. The Weekly K li. ves that it has evidence that the jK-ople of Missis sippi are ready and desire some leg islation under which they can se cure a higher class of education in the country. In support of this tosition it desires to cite four com munities in Monroe county thai have, within the past twelvemonths, contrihuted of their private means amounts aggregating seven thous and dollars to secure just sucl schools as are eontcniplatd in tin McFarland hill, and, if straws indi cate which way the wind Mows, it iK-clirs to this paper that the Legis lature will give Mr. McFarland's hill favorahle consideration, and enact it into law.
