Judge Ben Lindsay of Juvenile Court fame in a splendid address on "The Child of the South," says: "The women of the South are doing what women have always done taking up the burden of the child determined to see that it has fair play, a square deal and justice. Ask any politician, especially those who have recently been defeated in the fight against the saloon, and they will tell you that if the women are advocating these laws, they are likely to come just as sud denly and unexpectedly as the anti saloon legislation came, in spite ot supposed indifference. There is no longer any question that the senti ment of the South is on the right side of all these things." The women ot the South are beginning to be inter ested in the juvenile court law, and have done much for child labor legislation- Mission Bulletin. JUVENILE DELINQUENTS. From January 1 to December 31, 1904, there were committed to refor matory institutions 11, S14 juvenile de linquents, of whom 85.9 percent were males. Of the whole number 13.3 per cent were colored. Alas! many ju venile offenders were tried in regular criminal courts, imprisoned with older criminals, and given no chance for reform. A number of states have no special institution for t he care of these children. In some instances these dependent children go to the alms houses and become paupers by educa tion and training. -Mission Bulletin. The idea of juvenile court is grow ing rapidly, and Chicago has taken the lead by having the first building to be used exclusively for that pur pose. There are club rooms, gymnasium, reading room and library, etc. Cook County erected the build- ing, and now plans to put beside it a well-equipped school building where j these detained children school may j have training. Mission Bulletin. ! K. W. F. CURE SI0H DISEASES '1 here is an evaporation fiom the bodv going on continually, day ami night, through the p.ues and glands of the skin. This is nature's w'av of maintaining the proper temperature of our systems ami preserving the soft ness and flexibility of the skin, and so long as the blood is free from impur ities no trouble will result. When, however, the blood from any cause becomes infected with humors and acids, these too must be expelled, and coming in contact with the delicate fibres and tissues with which the skin is so abundantly supplied they produce irritation and inflammation, and the effect is shown by Eczema. Acne, Tetter, and skin affections of various kinds. These impurities and humors get into the blood through a deranged or inactive condition of the system ; the members whose duty it is to carry off the waste and refuse matter of the body fail to properly perform their work, and this impure, fermenting matter is left in the system to be absorbed by the blood. The skin is not only affected by poisons generated within the system, out poisons irom wittiout, such as Poison Oak. Poison Ivy, Nettle Kash, etc., enter through the open jKjres an 1 glands, and so thor oughly do they become rooted in the blood that they are ever present, or return at certain seasons of each year to torment the sufferer. Salves, washes, lotions, etc., cannot cure skin diseases. True, such treatment re lieves some of the itching and dis comfort, and aids in keeping the skin clean, but it does not reach the real cause, and at best can be only palli ating and soothing. Thorn Is no way of makinir lastinn friends .ike "Makinjf Good;" and Doctor Pierce's niediilnes well exemplify this, and their friends, after more than two decades of popularity, are numbered by the hundreds of thousands. They have "made good " and they have net made drunkards. A good, honest, square-deal medicine of known eomjxisition is Dr. Pierce's Oolden Medical Dlscoery. It still enjoys an im mense sale, while most ot the prepara tions that have come into prominence in the earlier period of its popularity have "gone bv the hoard " and are never more heard of. There must he some reason for this long-time popularity and that is to be found in its superior merits. When once given a fair trial for weak stomach, or for liver and blood affections, its supe rior curative qualities are soon manifest; j hence it has survived and grown in pop- j nlar favor, while scores of less meritorious articles have suddenly flashed into favor i for a brief period and then been as soon forgotten. For a torpid liver with its attendant indigestion, dyspepsia, headache, per haps dizziness, foul breath, nasty coated tongue, with bitter taste, loss of appetite, with distress after eating, nervousness and debilitv. nothing is so good as Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery. It s an honest, square-dal medicine with all its ingredients printed on bottle-wrapper no secret, no hocus-pocus humbug, therefore don't accept a sulmtitute that the dealer may possibly make a little big ger profit. Inxist on your right to have what vou call for. Don't buy Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescrip tion expecting it to prove a "cure-all." It is only advised for woman's special ail ments. It maiies weak women strong and sick women well. Less advertised than some preparations sold for like purposes, its sterling curative virtues still maintain Its position in the front ranks, where it stood over two deeades ago. As an in vigorating tonic and strengthening nerv ine it is unequaled. It won't satisfy those who want "booze." for there is not a drop of alcohol in It.
