The following article from Sam Harper, of the Raymond Gazette is gospel truth and receives our hearty approval. A change in the present system of conducting the courts is demanded as is evidenced by the numerous lynchings: .Say what the public will, the mur der o.’ Mayor Williamson is directly tracable to the acquittal of young Otis at Hazleburst a few weeks ago. One evil always follows another. The ease with which he secured his liberty and the triumphant shouts that accompanied Ins exit from the court room, were prophetic to Miller, and acting upon the prophecy, ho beat his defenseless victim to death. Lawyers can easily acquit him on the score of emotional insanity. Rut the lime is coming when public senti ment will bold lawyers responsible in such cases.
