Last Frlday'H opfiii ti£> Brilliant and Beautiful. Urookhaveu's fall millinery open ings, last Friday, were strikingly beautiful and attractive, tilling with delight and admiration all feminine beholders and making even the mem bers of the sterner sex who viewed them forget, for the time being, the solemn "bill day” that is sure to roll around bye and bye. At the N. V. Kacket Store, Mrs. Hamilton, in giving her opening, was assisted by Miss Hast. The millinery department was tastefully decorated with vines, ferns ami potted plants. Hats, simple and stylish, with long quills and stitched brims, veritable picture hats, daring in combination of colors, yet in exquisite taste, and quiet little bonnets were shown in profusion —enough to bewilder anyone attempt ing to make a selection. Mrs. Hamilton is not only a skillful milliner, but a fine business woman, and her hats, while of good material and faultless in style, are brought within the reach of those with modest purses. The millinery department of the ■ Misses Hubener was transformed into I a charming autumn scene in which was also a suggestion of winter, given by the huge snow ball decorated with fancy feathers, suspended from the ceiling and the words “Winter", that j might have been written on the wall by t he Winter King himself. Numerous sprays of fragrant golden rod ami great branches of autumn leaves formed a decoration much ap preciated by the busy city people, giv ing, as it did, a refreshing glimpse of the country and bringing thoughts of quiet woodland scenes. The hats were rich in material aud artistic in design: some of the gray ones w’e noted partielarly, for they were as charming as a winter land scape. Misses Hubener aud Hoskins were most attentive and courteous to the ladies present. The millinery of John McGrath A Sons w;is well worth a lingering visit, for the handsome designs and taste ful color schemes would have delight ed the eye of an artist. There were hats for every one subdued little bon nets for the silver haired grand mother: elaborate picture hats and chic sailors for the young ladies: pretty plumed and rosetted hats for the children; aud dainty affairs of satin and lace, in the way of caps, for the babies. The great mirrors reflected a gay scene of well chosen decorations, be wilderiugly beautiful millinery aud pretty, well-dressed ladies engaged in the delightful feminiue task of choos ing a hat. McGrath A Sons are indeed fortu nate in the possession of an experien ced aud personally charming milliner, Miss Dodson, and attentive aud ob liging saleswomen and salesmen.
