The meeting ree nvened on Wed needay morim g at t:1:. The round. up 'rmumittee Here 'rst called upnu to report, but mier. rot ready and asked furtberer times, wLich was granted. On motion of J. J. Thomp son a committee of five was apoir.ted to nominate officers for the ensuing year, and Meesrs. Poindexter, Thomp. son, Floweree, Frail and Holt were named as such committee. On motion a committee of two was appointed to examine and audit the accounts of the secretary and treasurer, and Huntley and Loud were named as the cow. mittee. The committee on member .hlp reported favorably on the applica tions of C. M. Jacobs, M. J. Donne, J. C. Brenner, W. D. Ellis and J. W. Crouch and on motion the same were admitted to membersbi, in the aesoci. atlon. Pending other busineya Preý't Scott called upon the representatives of t.e different palace stock eare who were present to address the meeting and explain the advantages of their cars Under this invitation Messrs. Ripley. of the Ripley Car Co., and Jones of the Street Car Co., were heard from at length. Each of the representatives of course sought to show that bis car was lbh best, but the weight of argu ment appeared to lie on the side of the Ripley sar, fromthe fact that tbeNorth. ern Pacific road haa, as Mr. Ripley stated, expressed awillingness tot utid for its own use 500 of the Ripley care, providing that the Montana stockmen approved of the car and were satisfied to use it in preference to any other palace car. The Street car, although a very desirable car for shipping stock, was owned by a private corporation to whom all roads using the car had to pay mileage, which of course was a charge on the shipper in addition to ireight, but if the Ripley oar, oferini nearly the same advantages, could be owned by the road over which ship ment. were made, the charge to ship pers would be no greater than fbr or din ary stock cars. save a mro rata in crease for the additional length of the new car over the old. This was the *ist of the argument presented by Mr. Ripley and not very effectually oon troverted by Mr. Jones, of the Street car company. Something more than an hour was consumed in listening to the statements of the two gentlemen named in behalf of their care, when on motion of Granville dtuart themat ter was referred to a committee of three, who were to examine into the merit, of the two cars during the noon reoess and report on the same in the afteracon. The chair named as such committee Messrs. Bustor, Holt and Ryan. Mr. Boster stated that he be lieved the merits of such cars were more apparent on long hauls thea on shorter ones, and for that reason be asked that the committee be enlarged by two more members, to be selected from the western portion of the terri tory, whose stock was sebjested to the longest haul to market. '1 he enss tion taking the shape of a motion, it was carried and b. sealet added to the committee Messes. Flowers. and Poin dexter. At this point a telegram was read from Jme. H. Woods, of Chicago, regretting his inability to be present at tbb meeting, and mentioning among other thing. pat the prospeot. were "bright for bee." The reading of it eassed easiderable merriment and Mr. Flbweree was moved to enquire if Mr. Weeds referred to she grass or the I market.. On motion of Staest a tste ram was ant to Secretary Haurlon, expresing reoro t his non-attond noo and hoping that be will be on hand for next year. On moUon of Stuart a ommittee of fE an re ol ton was appoantod, to whom 1a .o lutions wor to be reonodi witbht debat. Theo ·air named s Mob ommcltteoo Nm . Famll, of Medliooa oonty, gPV nooleo of the Intention of the hob growar of the Jerritory to prMemt to the amoolatoan somo meUm- looktag to the boefAt sad prolteti of the hon industry. Mr. arrell said the bhorme were all members of the Ws. Ioolatlon sad pid for all le privileges but io reallt had vwy UUtt of tUom. He did not know just what action would be taken, but wisbed to pave the way for its reception and consider. ation. The hour of noon having ar rived the board took a recess till 2 o'clock.
