BEFORE ONE of the smallest
crowds of Angus buyers in recent
years, 40 Angus bulls and females
from five states, paraded before the
auction stand at the Midland Em
pire fairgrounds, Billings, Oct. 29.
The quality cattle of the offering
brought top prices and sold easily,
but at the tag end of the offering,
buyers were hard to find.
The 40 cattle sold for a total of
$29,635 to bring an overall average
to consignors of $625. The top five
bulls in the sale sold for an average
of $1,605. All 22 of the bulls aver
aged $835.
Stimson Bull Top
The top selling bull of the sale,
Elon Bardolier of Spring Hill, sold to
E. and Ray Girder, Livingston, at
$2,175. This Carl Stimson, Belgrade,
bred and consigned herd bull pros
pect outsold the champion bull of the
sale by $175. Another Stimson bred
bull sold to Cecil Grew, Hill and
Dale ranch, Portage, at $510, and a
Stimson bred heifer sold to N Bar
ranch, Grass Range.
The champion bull, Blackbird Lad
111th, from the Fox & Son, Water
town, S. D., consignment, sold to Al
fred Menke, Saco, at an even $2,000
figure. L. A. Crawford & Sons, Bear
Tooth Angus ranch, Red Lodge, pur
chased the reserve champion Angus
bull at the Classic from the Gauger
Bros., Clear Lake, S. D., consign
ment at $900.
A son of Henke's Eliminator 2d
sold to Archie Ginther, Harlowton,
for $1,950. E. W. Miller, Bozeman,
purchased a half brother to this bull,
also from the Henry Henke, Han
avor, N. D., consignment at $800.
Harrer Buys Reserve Female
From this herd Judge J. C. Hol
bert, Washington, la., selected the
reserve champion female of the
show, Primrosa's and she sold
to W. J. Harrer & Sons, Green Mead
ow ranch, Helena.
The champion cow, Cameron's
Erica Lass 2d from the Don Cameron,
Westhope, N. D., herd sold to J. E.
Bowen, Spring Creek Angus ranch,
Livingston. L. W. Swanson, Black
Otter Angus, Springhill, was the
main buyer of females at the sale.
With but two exceptions, all buyers
were within the state.

Three of these bulls are sired by
St. Albans Valor's Count, whose dam
