That's why it pays to Sow your grain with an Oliver Superior No. 38 Deep Furrow Drill. It's the perfect answer to planting problems where fields are whipped by intense winds . . . where winters are severe and rainfall scanty. An Oliver Superior Deep Furrow Drill penetrates any kind of ground . . . puts seed down into moist soil to hasten germination and protect seedlings from winter killing hazards. It throws up rough, rounded ridges to baffle the wind and check soil drift. In ad* dition, the wide trenches trap rainfall and snow to help your crop withstand drought. Groin Saver, Too! Here's another way an Oliver Superior Drill increases your chances of harvesting a bigger crop. There's no skipping or bunch ing ... no loss of costly seed. Each wheel section of the Double-Run Force Feed distrib utes exactly the same amount ... no more, no less. As long as there's a handful of grain in the bushel-to-the-foot steel hopper, the seed is measured out in equal quantity ... deposited at precisely the same depth. Check the seed-saving advantages of the No. 38 Drill at your neighborhood Oliver dealer. See the special Deep Furrow opener . . . the spring-cushioned oil-bath transmis sion that provides 60 seeding rales ... the sturdy, 4-square frame that stands years of bumps and strains. MONTANA-OLIVER ' Distributing Company GREAT FALLS, MONTANA BILLINGS, MONTANA NORTHERN WYOMING Basin, Big Horn Co-Op. Marketing Association Gillette, Wagner Implement Special Deep Furrow Opener This disc thrusts the soil to the right and the shield picks it up on the left. The section above the divider on the shield elevates the upper part of the soil in lumps, carrying along trash, sod or stubble. Dirt displaced by the action of the moldboard part of the shield is thrown up on a ridge against a similar stream of dirt thrown up by the disc of the next furrow opener. At the same timé, the wing of the shield picks up moist soil in the bottom of the furrow which is separated from the upper soil by a divider. As the seed is deposited on the bottom of the trench, this moist soil trickles over the wing of the shield onto the seed, forming a light, moist covering before any of the dry topsoil falls back into the furrow. \W Co. 1 Lovell, Big Horn Co-Op.
