It's a sign that the owner takes pride in his place arid his product. It's a sign of his good, western hospital ity, his consideration for the custo mer who may w:ant to buy a bull or a basket of eggs and for Uncle John and Aunt Hattie back east who may come out for a visit some summer. Pictured on this page are a few samples of signs and markers set up by Montana farmers and ranchers. The pictures were taken by Mon tana Farmer-Stockman's Roving Reporter Jerry Lester as he trav eled about the state. At top left and right are good examples borhôod guide the traveler along rural lanes. Center left and right are samples of private roadside markers, and below are types of name plates that mark entrances to home places. How does one get to your place? Is it just a "fur piece" down the of community and neigh roadside directories that road? ^ ^ s a A Eg|.- ■ « ■. j •y ^ Anne Gibson of the Silesia girls 4-H club helps Ted Lindgren of the Edgar Rustlers 4-H club put up the first sign put up in Carbon county as part of a 4-H club road marking project. About ISO signs were made and erected by club members. Picture at bottom left shows one of more than 50 fence signs made and put up in Lake county by the Valley View Gleaners 4-H club under the direction of A. M.
