Jeffers, and 25 cows and calves to John T. Parker, Hamilton. Charlie Jones, Calgary purchased a long yearling Paladin bred bull from Monforton Herefords in mid June. In his trip through much of central and southern Montana, Jones found a "lot of good cattle." ♦ * ♦ will be Sunday, Sept. 16. Annual Angus Field Day Draws Record Crowd FROM NEARLY every section of Montana and from four nearby states several hundred Angus breed ers and their friends gathered for the second annual field day held at Green Meadow ranch, Helena, June 16. This year, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Harrer, owners of Green Meadow: Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Gleed, Dillon; Mr. and Mrs. Archie Ginther, Har lowton, and C. F. Stimson, Belgrade, were hosts to the crowd. Andy Anderson, Encampment, Wyo., president of the American Aberdeen-Angus association, attend ed the field day and in a short in formal talk told Angus breeders to "continue to strive for a higher qual ity product, insist on giving the buy er his money's worth, and tell your neighbor of the natural advantages which the breed enjoys." Anderson also described in detail the new ta tooing and recording procedures inaugurated by the association. All activi ties of the day were held in or near the huge Swiss-type barn at Green Meadow ranch. Milking Shorthorn Sale Planned PLANS ARE BEING made for a Montana-Wyoming Milking Short horn sale to be held next spring, ac fording to Stanley K. Smith, secre tary of the Montana Milking Short horn Breeders association. The proposed program was an nounced at the annual meeting of the association held at Bozeman June 11. Yearling Ewes Bring $35-$40 FIRST SHEEP transaction for the season reported by the First Nation al bank of Geat Falls involved 1,500 whitefaced yearling ewes out of the wool at $40 a round. The contract called for delivery of 500 head Aug. 1 and the balance Sept. 15. In the Cut Bank area 1,725 black faced yearling ewes were contracted for July 15 delivery at $35.25, and in the Cascade area 4,800 blackfaced yearling ewes sold for $36, July de livery.
