S OME people refuse to make New Year
resolutions, but I'm for them. I would
not want to live in a world where we
mortals had no place for improvement. I
looked into the face of a man once who
had not made a resolution for 3,000 years
—the mummy of Rameses II, in the
British museum.
New Year is the time when business
men take inventory of their wares—when
experts try to forecast the probable
trends for the opening year. It is the
time you and I should take a look into
our own hearts to weigh our character
' drifts^ It is as a new piece of paper in
place of a slightly soiled one. It is a time
when memory tells us to stand up a lit
tle straighter, think more purely, act
more unselfishly, and to pray more.
If there has come a time for any of us
when we cease to resolve for better
things, death has set in for us, and the
glory of life is beginning to dim.
Here are some of my resolutions. Join
in with me if you will.
MONTANA AND NORTHERN WYOMING
I will try harder to keep sweet in the
present world situation. I will pull more
and kick less, knowing well that neither
a mule nor a man can pull and kick at the
same time. What I cannot change I will
put up with. What I can do I will attempt
at any sacrifice.
I will not give, up my faith in God and
Christ, no matter what happens, and
when things look black I will try to re
call the words of Jesus to His disciples,
a He faced martyrdom: "Receive ye my
joy." His faith in His Father did not fail.
I will seek more chances to live help
fully and hopefully with my fellows. I
will look for gold, not in purses, but in
personalities.
I will be a voting citizen, and not a sit
ter when elections come.
I will pray for the cessation of hate and
the coming of peace on earth "among
men of good will."
I will try to make 1952 the best year of
my life thus far.
