Protective Service
Doir t Pay Advance
Fee to Get Loan
BEWARE OF THE loan company
that requires an advance fee to nego
tiate a loan. One outfit is reported
to advertise through the mails and
sends a representative out to your
home when you return their application.
A $200 advance fee is required to
process your loan, he says, which is
returned if the loan is not approved.
The prospective borrower receives a
letter from the "home office" inform
ing him that the loan was not approved
and that the advance fee will be re
turned. But the money isn't returned,
and the address on the company's let
terhead proves to be nonexistent.
As in the real estate business, no
reputable loan firm requires an ad
vance fee, nor do they come to your
home to lend you money. You have
to go to them.

Thieves Buy Ohl Cars
To Get Titles
CAR THIEVES are reported to be
buying up old and junked cars from
farmers to get the titles. They say
they want the cars to make "doodle
bug" farm tractors. The titles are
later altered to describe stolen auto
mobiles. The stolen cars are then driv
out of state and sold under the
altered title.
If approached by someone who ap
pears to be trying to work this racket,
get in touch with local authorities.
Insurance Racket
BE ON THE lookout lor racketeers
who pose as government representa
tives of social security, workmen's com
pensation or other federal programs.
They claim that their job is to ex
plain farmers' benefits under these
programs. This is just a dodge to get
info your home and try to peddle some
worthless insurance.
