struck water at the Ellis-Madison
contact at 18*93. The Sunburst
sand at 1665 was 16 feet thick. The
hole bottomed at 2265.
Dunkirk Drilling oompany-Grlsson
No. 1, In SE%NE% 17-31-1W had
a eh owing of odl at 1775. That
was In 1926, seven years before the
science of acidlzatlon was known.
This well was drilled to 2136 feet,
despite the flow of water which
followed the odl at 1776.
A fourth well near Dunkirk was
drilled in 1928 toy B-B OH company
on the Peterson farm, NW % NW %
20-31-1E, but was abandoned at
800 feet.
In the next range east Is Com
monwealth Petroleum-Benjamin No.
1 which had a showing o< oil at
1985 In the basal Ellis.
The well is .being financed toy a
group of Shelby investors who have
chosen C. O. Bohn as trustee, under
a Joint adventure agreement, fi
nanced by 1Ç0 unit« at fldO each,
giving each participant l-150th In
terest in the 2500 acres and the
well.

British American Oil Co., Ltd.,
has contracted (or 1,500,000 btol. of
oil in southern Illinois area from
Continental Oil Co. and others to
be shipped across Lake Erie and
Lake Ontario for delivery at the
British American refinery at Tor
onto.

chert sand usually found at the
base of the lower Cut Bank, then
went back Into /upper Cut Bank
sand with a second lens of lower
I Cut Bank from 3173 to 3176. It
had some saturation from 3160 to
3165 and casing was run to 3140
to test. It had a fluid level of
80 feet, about 75% water. It Is
estimated at two barrels of oil and
five of water. It struck Sills shale
at 3175 and completed at 3200
feet, and is now standing.
Dakota-Montana-Trihal 186 No. 2
SW SW'4SEVk 15-34-6W, had an
initial of 147 barrels in the first
22 hours. It bad Sunburst sand
from 2820 to 2840. dry; upper
Cut Bank from 2880 to 2905; lower
Cut Bank from 2905 to 2914. the
main pay. Ellis was penetrated
from 2914 to 2920. The fluid
level was 1400 feet. Seven Inch
casing was cemented at 2880.
Glacier Production-BtaU' I« No. 0
CWL S\V«4 16-33-5W, made 140
barrels In the first 24 hours, from
a 1400-foot fluid level. Sunburst
sand from 2840 to 2880 had a
showing of oil at 2860; upper Cut
Bank from 2900 to 2935 was dry;
lower Cut Bank from 2935 to 2947
had the main pay between 2933 to
294 4. Ellis was penetrated from
2940 to 2949.
Kalley A Kipe-Hagerty No. I,
SE Nfi«4NW% 15-34-6W, found a
tight sand and may use nitro gly
cerin. Sunburst »and from 2865
to 2875 was dry; upper Cut Bank
from 2895 to 2914 was dry; lower
Cut Bank from 2927 to 2943 had
a showing of oil. Ellis shale was
penetrated from 2943 to 2954. It
will toe allowed to stand for a
time before shooting.
Two new wells were started this
week:
«Lader Product ion-VanOmer No.
5, In center north line, NE%NW%
17-33-5W, rigging up. It is 440
feet south of the north line and
1980 feet east of the west
of the section.
Consolidated Gas-Tribal No. I, a
British-American lease, is in the
center of Lot 8 (SW%SE»4) of
Section 10-34-6W.

The Cobb-Tribal No. 3 well Is a
diagonal northwest location to the
big producer.

ing the existence of oil in the
west extension of the high gravity
oil pool. The lack oi porosity indi
cated by the resistance to acid
seems to point to a small well At
this location but the presence of
oil encourages further drilling in
the region.
Field Operations
Wells in the main field included;

ing set at 1145. It had a showing
of gas, at last reports.
