One block of leases of record reveals that The Texas Co. has leased the north flank of Kevin-Sunborst field along the "nose" mapped by U.S.G.8. extend ing northward past the town of Sun burst, both east and west of the town. Pioneer wells in this area found oil, before the days of aeidization. Carter Oil Co. recorded part of its north block in Dupuyer area, south of thé Texas Co.'s 85,000-aere block. Car ter has some 50,000 acres in its north block. The presence of A. H. Stewart, di vision manager, in northern Montana this week is believed to presage the announcement of a program of drilling on some of the Texaco blocks. AND WORSE TIMES ABE COMING Of startling import to everyone but OPA is the monthly petroleum state ment of U8BM showing the "unexpect edly sharp decline" in January when production fell off everywhere. Fur thermore, drilling dropped to a point where only 688 wells were brought in compared with 1,373 in January, 1942. The average size of the completion fell to 160 bbl. per day compared with 380 a year ago. Send a contribution to the Sunburst Badger. Great Falls Cobb Will Drill Deep Wildcat On Meriwecrther (Continued from Pagv It west iff the Tribal pool, were bid in by Hannah-Porter Go. after a merry bidding contest over one 239-acre lease. L. R. Hannah made an initial bid of 15 cents per acre for the tribal lands with the understanding that in the event his company did not get the en tire block, all bids were to be with drawn. The tribal lease of 1214 acres was bid in and likewise eight of the 11 tracts of allotted lands when, on Tract 22, in Sec. 3-31-6W, British American Oil Co., represented by Tom Branch, started bidding, advancing 5 cents per acre. Bidding continued to $3.50 per acre when Hannah arose to ask whether the purchaser of a single tract would be required to drill a well. Superin tendent E. H. McBride of the agency replied that in his opinion one Well would be required to be drilled by each separate bidder. However, Branch, unimpressed, con tinued bidding and British American quit at $5. Hannah-Porter getting the 239.85 acres at $5.10 per acre. The Two Medicine leases are in a "district" rather than a structure, it being the normal west slope of the arch, south and east of the Hagan structure, in teresting in that it may be on the "trend" of the southward swing of the ancient seacoast on which the Cut Bank sand was laid down. About three-fourths of all sports equipment now being manufactured goes to members of the armed services and to those receiving pre-induction military training.
