Elk Basin South Extension
Hopes Dashed by Union Well
CASPER—Hopes for very substantial extension of Elk Basin
to the south, beyond the area in which Continental Oil Company
recently got oil in an extension well, appear doomed to disappoint
ment following abandonment of Union Oil Company's No. 1 Kendall,
NMî 28-57-99W, which quit in the Eagle sandstone at 3185. Also
abandoned in this area is Kirk Oil Company's No. 1 Gill, NE NE
NW 1-56-99W, three miles southeast of the Continental extension
producer, and Husky Refining Company's No. 1 Taggart, a mile
south of the Kirk well.
A very interesting location during
the week was Carter Oil Com
No. 1 Wind Rivet - , on Sheldon
an offset to the field discovery well,
which on a flow test through opert
tubing recently made a barrel a
minute.
Some additional wildcat locations
were made during the week.
Among wildcats now making
hole, noteworthy is Mountain Fuel
Supply Company's No. 1, on the
Church Butte structure in Uinta
county, in the southwestern comer
of Wyoming. This well is now past
10.000 feet.
