Six miles to the sonth, at the bottom of the map, is Union's No. 7 McGuinness, that got 9,000,000 feet of gas in the Cot Bank sand, then went 49 feet into the Madison lime to find oil of 40 gravity. In more southern parts of the state, warmer tempera tu and Chinook winds have swept away virtually all snow, though some operations in these areas are now having trouble with mud. Outlook, unless there is a material change in the weather, is that practically all drilling operations will be resumed by the first of next week. j McGuinness Completion Main Item of Interest, Cut Bank Finding of oil in the Madison lime by Union-McGuinness No. 7 was the chief development of interest in the Cut Bank field during the week, with action as a whole just beginning to resume following the storm that shut down nearly the entire field. ----A I Texaco Gets Good Well, North Field Best completion of the week in the Kevin-Sunburst field was scored by the Texas Company in its Kenny-Kesnn Non-Joint No. 12, C 8W SW 8E 15-35N-2W. It got the top of the lime at 1484, dritter! to MM, acidized with 500 gallons and came up with an initial of 32 barrels of oil the first 8 hoars. Four other wells were driller! in during the week, getting only shows of oil that are being acidized. An (Continued on Page 2 ) Bowdoin Test Drilling Plug Texaco's deep test on Bowdoin dome in northeastern Montana has resumed operations following com pletion of a fishing job and is re ported drilling plug after cement ing 9%-inch pipe at 3195 feet with 870 sacks. » Border Test Nears Lime Montana Power Co. this week made hole past 2885 feet in its wild cat north of the Reagan Madison lime producers, west of the^Cut Bank field and a mile south of the Alberta-Montana border, on the Blackfeet Indian reservation. This well is drilling with rotary tools and is expected to top the Madison lime during the coming week. Poston Test Shuts Down H. L. Poston has shut down his wildcat near Kalispell, the only well now being drilled in Montana west of the Rocky mountains, and will not resume until spring. Seven Inch pipe has been landed at 1475, at which depth the well was still drilling in clay and sand, believed to be glacial wash. Bears Den Well 2884 I The Texas Company this week made hole past 2884 feet In its No. 1 Sorrell, on the southeast flank of the Bears Den field. Last reported top In this well was ribbon sand, 2620. Some wells are near the comple tion stage but none appeared to be of more than average caliber. Drilling has been resumed on two outpost wells, one being Texaco's Black Bear No. I west of any pres ent production in the field, and A.
