The first store of the Willson Co. was under
a tent, packing cases served as counters. The
goods were transported overland at great risk
and at tremendous cost. From the very first
the supreme optimism of General Willson was
reflected in all his dealings and business relation
with his neighbors, his fellow pioneers of the
Territory of Montana. His optism was founded
on an unwavering faith in the future of this
great commonwealth,
identified his interests with that of the com
munity and his life from the history of Bozeman
and the Gallatin Valley is inseparable.
