The history of the brick and tile business is one that dates
back to ancient times. Indeed, if one travels through the
ancient Holy Land one will see the ruins of many ancient
and historic buildings which owe their exemption from ob
literation to the fact that they were constructed of brick. An
outstanding example of these buildings is the ruins of King
Nebuchandnezzar's palace in Babylon, whose walls, though
they are 2600 years old, still stand and are made of brick
as they made them in those days.
In all the centuries that have elapsed since those early
times no building material has been found which would sup
plant brick at the same cost. No building material has been
found which would supply the longevity, the coolness in sum
mer and the warmth in winter, that is characteristic of brick.
