2 Hardin Tribune-Herald, Hardin, Montana Thursday, May 15, 1958 Associate Professor At MSC to Be Principal Speaker at Graduation Lodge Grass. — Earl Fellbaum. as sociate professor in the department of teacher education at Montana State college will be speaker at the Lodge Grass high school commence ment exercises May 29. The title of his address will be "What Is Right With the World”. Fellbaum came to MSC in 1955 from a position as superintendent of Helena high school. He is a two year graduate of Northern State Teachers college at Aberdeen, S. D., and received his B. A. degree in education from Montana State uni versity. He earned his M. A. degree in ed ucational administration from the University of Minnesota and has done post graduate work at the University of Washington. He was an elementary teacher at Higham, Brockton and elementary principal at Homestead. He was also superintendent at Antelope, Froin, and Plentywood before being made Helena high principal in 1944. In addition to commencement exercises, baccalaureate services will be held May 25 at the high school gym with the Rev. Herschell Daney of the First Crow Indian Baptist church as speaker. A Senior tea, sponsored by feder ated clubs of Lodge Grass and Wy ola, assisted by other women's clubs, will be held May 20 in the social room of the First Crow Indian Bap tist church. The Junior-Senior banquet is being held tonight (Thursday) with ladies of the Little Brown church serving. The prom is scheduled for May 17. E. L. He and his son, David, are guests of the Rev. and Mrs. Phillip Bennett whUe in Lodge Grass. The Overcomers, young people of the Light House Gospel church, will have a bake sale May 17 in Lodge Grass. A. G. Westwood Jr. arrived home Friday evening from a tour of Eur ope, where he also attended the World’s Fair. He visited historic places In England and Ireland as well as on the main continent of Europe. Mrs. Westwood met him in Billings. Enroute home he stopped at Shattuck Military college and visited his son, Charles, briefly. The public is invited to attend the piano recital to be given Friday, May 16. in the Little Brown church when students of Mrs. Ralph Burris and Mrs. W. O. Green will perform. The Junior choir of the Little Brown church sang “Holy Jesus Tender Shepherd" Sunday at morn ing worship services. This was their last performance of the season. The choir will be reorganized again when school starts in September. Chil dren in the 4th, sth and 6th grades of school are eligible to join the choir. Mrs. E. L. Moyer and Mrs. Frank McNamara were luncheon guests of Mrs. Harry Wilson Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Green are parents of a son. Michael Scott, born in Billings May 6 at St. Vin cents hospital. Phillip Ben nett as speaker. Class colors are blue and white and their class flower is the carnation. Valedictorian is Billie Dawn Far rant, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sharp, with whom she makes her home. Salutatorian is Nancy Bumbaca, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Bumbaca. There will be an eighth grade tea May 19 at the Little Brown church, sponsored by the P-TA organization with the seventh and eighth grade room mothers in charge. Students Perform At State Music Meet Lodge Grass. — Lodge Grass high school music Instructor, Morgan Jenkins and 17 high school students attended the state music meeting in Missoula Thursday thru Sunday. Those attending were Claudette Wham, Kenneth Toineeta, Larry Kreiger, Mike Hartman, Ken Wheel er, Bob Clawson, Marian Miller, Eddie Shaw, Peggy Green, Josie Murdock, Nancy Walker, Joan Tschirgi, Larry Hughes, Nancy Sim pson, Bill Fitzgerald, Holly Rae Kreiger and Letha McGovern. Boy Scouts Hold Three-Day Camporee Lodge Grass. — Boy Scout mem bers of Lodge Grass and their scout masters Bill Shaw and the Rev. H. S. Benson enjoyed a three day camporee on upper Lodge Grass creek. They returned home early Sunday morning. Among boys making the trip were Bobby Ball, Darold Pilkington, Bob by Glumblk, David George, Duane Bends, Clifford Singer, Daniel George, Dick Simpson and Sargie Howe. Rex Benson accompanied his father on the trip. left Wednesday after spending a week at the Hults home. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Walker re turned Thursday from a trip to Billings and Selicia. In Selicia they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Frank McClintock. Miss Deanna Cooley, who is a stu dent at Boulder, Colo., spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Cooley. Dinner guests Sunday at the Bob Hanley home included Mr. and Mrs. James Fellows and family of Ash land, Miss Heather Waite, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fellows and son, Char les, of Lodge Grass and Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Fellows of Bozeman. Kay Yonkee of Pass Creek and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Burris and sons of Lodge Grass were guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Gentry on the Wolf mountains Sunday. Mrs. Hester Stevenson entertained at dinner Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stevenson and family. The Rev. and Mrs. H. S. Benson and the Rev. Herschell Daney at tended the Baptist convention held in Lewistown Friday and Saturday. Uhl Bond, the Rev. H. S. Benson, and Jack Ball left Monday for Templed Hills, the Baptist summer camp located In the mountains near Livingston, to check on materials needed for a work project to be held later. The BYF group of . the Little Brown church have almost com pleted selling candy. Money they make from sale of the candy will be used on a worthwhile project to be chosen at a later date. The cartoon "Rick O’Shay” by Stanford Lynde, former resident, appeared for the first time in the Billings Gazette Sunday, May 4. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Wiley made a trip to Billings the first of the week where Mrs. Wiley received a medical checkup. The ladies of the Order of Eastern Star met at the home of Mrs. Joe Morrison Monday evening with Mrs. Uhl Bond the co-hostess. Julane and Jan Green visited Mr. and Mrs. John Barber Friday evening while their mother was In Wyc'n for the recital of her piano students. Mr. and Mrs. Hart Glumblk were overnight guests of their son, Don ald. and family in Billings fallowing the Lions club banquet. Other Lodge Grass couples attending the banquet were Mr. and Mrs. Fay Abel and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnston. Field Day Events Are Set for May 21 Lodge Grass. — A field day Is set for May 21 at the high school foot ball and track field. The morning .will be given to races, contests, etc. for all elementary grades. Each grade will have event con tests within their own grade level. Parents and teachers will help in conducting all events. At noon a student-parent picnic will be held with each person bring ing his own lunch. During the afternoon there will be a marble tournament in the ele mentary grades. For the high school group there will be soft ball games between the men teachers and the high school boys. Lodge Gross Social Happenings COMMITTEE REPORTS The nominating committee of the Travel club reported at the meet ing Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Henry Esp, with Mrs. William Lynde the co-hostess. HOLD BANQUET The Lodge Grass Civic club held their annual banquet Saturday at the Western Coffee shop in Sheri dan. Mrs. Bert Johnston was mistress of ceremonies. Mrs. Albert Steven son was installation officer. New of ficers are Mrs. Richard Blakely, president; Mrs. Hart Glumblk, vice president; Mrs. Bill Daniels, secre tary and Mrs. Cliff Hartman, treas urer. Mrs. E. L. Moyer .out-going presi dent, presented the new president with a corsage. She also pre sented the out-going officers with gifts. They are Mrs. Steve Walker, Mrs. Pete Miklovich and Mrs. Harry Wilson. The club presented Mrs. Moyer with a gift. Mrs. Lloyd Lake of Wyola was in charge of the program. She pre sented Mrs. Crossfield of Sheridan and her dancing students who per formed tap, ballet and toe dances. Lodge Grass girls appearing in the, review were Dcnna Clawson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clawson and Nancy Clawson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Clawson. Jerl Tschirgi of Wyola also appeared on the program. ALTAR SOCIETY MEETS Mrs. Hart Glumblk was hostess Monday night to the ladies of the Altar society. Those present were Mrs. George Cooley, Mrs. Lawrence Kreiger, Mrs. Lillie Green, Mrs. Cy Belus, Mrs. Donald Clawson and Mrs. Frank McNamara. The society presented Mrs. Mc- Namara with a going away gift. Mr. and Mrs. McNamara plan to leave when school closes for their home in the East. Plans were made for conducting the summer church school of Our Lady of Loretto Catholic church. Classes will be held the first two weeks of June with the Sisters of St. Xavier mission in charge. Local helpers will be solicited if needed. TO SHOW FILM Lodge Grass. — A film “Seven teen" will be shown Friday evening, May 23, at a party given in the American Legion hall by the Over comers club of the Light House Gospel church. Young peoples groups of various churches will be guests of the Overcomers. 'Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Long and Jerry Jr. spent the week end at the Jess Thomas ranch. WIN IN CONTEST Lodge Grass. — Winners in the American Legion Auxiliary sponsor ed poppy poster contest were an nounced last week. In class one (grades 4,5, 6) Claren Neal won first place; Mark Chandler second place and Marvin Eastman, third place. In class two .(grades 7,8, 9) only one entry was turned in. That was Kevin Red Star who won first place. There were no entries in class three. Winning entries will be sent to state essay contest headquarters.
