The captain had urged his wife all day to take a huoy and come ashore, but she steadily refused as she would not leave tier husband andt child, and sonly one could take the buoy at a time. The wife and child were already greatly ex hausted according to the report of the sailors. Last Tuesday wille Ilascall was away from home five membllhers of his household were taken suddenly ill after dlnner and this morning Emma Anderslon, his house keeper, died. The others recovering the family kept the matter quiet till today, but the probablilities now are that the househeeper's body, which was buried at Steward's, Neb., will he exhumed and an inquest lie held. Ilascall is divorced from his wife and, it is alleged, the An lerson woman was the cause of the sepa ration. It is claimed that threats had been made that sihe wouild not die a nat uiral death. MiI.hWAUKEE, March 27.-Surveys have been made to give the Chicago & Lake Geneva road an entrance into White Wa ter and other towns through which the Wisconsin ('enttal proposes to build its new projected road, and it is stated work will be commenced very soon. Proceed Ings will be begun for the condemnation of the land that is wanted for the right of way Into towns. The Wisconsin Cen tral will have to build the road this year or else forfeit the aid voted by interested towns, for it was stipulated that the bonds authorized to be issued should become invalid unless the line was ready for busl ness by January, 1892. Cuook's Hearing Postponed. CiicwAoo, March 27.--The petition of Banker Chas. E. Cook for release on habeas corpus on the charge of illegal banking in Ilareford and Juucan, Wis., came up for hearing before Judge Baker today but by the consent of both sides the hearing went over until April. Cook was arrested some weeks ago on an ex tradition warrant issued by Governor Fifer on a requisition from the governor of Wisconsin. The complaint was sworn to by the clerk of the circuit court of Washington county, Wis., who was one of the depositors in Cook's bank, both of which failed last summer shortly after which, it is claimed, Cook disappeared. Explosion of a Sttil. Irats, 0(., March 28.-Still number six, Standard's solar refinery, exploded about one o'oclock today with terrific force. Soloman Kissell was badly burned and will likely die. John Sullivan was hit in the head with a brick and is badly cut. Thos. Kendrick was badly burned about the face, he will recover, Owen Kane was considerably injured. No very great damage was done to the building. The Worst Snowstorm. MAwl'riNsmnt'Io, W. Va., March 28.---The worst snowstorm that has ever occurred in this section of the country has just closed. It lasted forty hours and it is supposed that about six feet of snow has fallen, yesterday it melted almost ,a fast as it fell, but it is now about three feet deep.
