I Ke<I Lodge Notes. \\ a n this readies your readers the ter minus of the Rocky Fork will be in Red Lodge, and we extend a cordial invitation to Mi. Editor to visit the greatest coal camp in the northwest. All rail route. J. II. Conrad & C'o.'s store is fast near ing completion. J. V. Sporr lias supplied our village with eggs, and tlio boarders are thankful. John Ray wears a broad smile—it s a boy. The saw mill is turning out lumber at a good gait. Mr. Omar Hoskins of Hoskins <fc Co. of Billings and Red Lodge spent a couple of days with us, making arrangements to put up a large amount of ice and getting their market in running order. Mr. S. L. Platt, Sr., went east on a bus iness trip a few days since. He is ex pected to return about March 1st. The Montana Coal company are not pushing developments as fast as they were. The Rocky Fork Coal company are putting in scales and pushing the work and will soon be in readiness to furnish 1.000 tons of coal per day. Competent miners can get work here any day. Sheriff Templeton made us a visit the past week in the interests of the people, his special mission being to show the resi dents of the panhandle wherein it was to their interests to remain in Park county, and he found them almost all of one mind, that they had made a mistake and acted without due deliberation in asking to leave Park county, with its good roads free bridges and low taxes. They were only waiting to sign a remonstrance and needed no urging. In view of our coming prosperity, with the Rocky Fork road we are assured of the greatest coal camp in the northwest and with the franchise of the B., C. F. & C. C. company in the hands of the U we are assured the time is short until these coal fields will be tapped on the east side and thus insure just as great coal camp at Carbontfale as Red Lodge Then we will have sufficient wealth and % population to manage our own affairs ; till then let well enough alone is the senti ment of nine out of every ten residents of the panhandle at the present time. With the opening of our coal fields we need and must have a resident deputy sheriff, as our interests would inevitably suffer if we must wait for a sheriff to come from Livingston every time his ser vices are required. In the person of Mr Frank Beller we have the material for as competent a deputy sheriff as can be sent here, and we earnestly lecommend him to tlie attention of our worthy sheriff. His appointment would be satisfactory to the entire community. E. D. Paiiks. The Verdict Unanimous. W. D.
