Carrying on a world-wide war has placed a
wemendous burden on the industry of Am
erica. No greater burden has been placed on
aay single industry than that of our public
militias. How have the utilities met that
challenge?
Shortly after Pearl Harbor, it was thought
Rmk perhaps there was not enough electric
power capacity to meet all the demands of a
world-wide war. Two years of war have
proven that to be wrong. Our business man
aged electric utilities have met the challenge
and supplied all the power required in every
area throughout the nation. Now that the
demand for electric power has reached its
peak, business managed utilities still have
surplus capacity available.
And what has this meant in the cost of
c! .trie service? The fact is that electricity is
one jof the few commodities that has not in
creased in price in two years of war. While
