Page Two COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS OF THE ROOSEVELT COUNTY BOARD February 21, 1945 ■Board met on February 21. 1945 at 10:00 A. M. in special session ■with Commissioners Fairley, Rush and Zuck, and Clerk McLachlan ^present. The following sale of tax deed property was approved and all de linquent and current taxes against this tract were ordered cancelled, viz: E%SW%NE’4 and Lot 6, Section 8, Township 26, Range 46 for $135.00 to F. H. Christensen of Scobey, Montana, on Febru ary 21, 1945. Board went over correspond •ence. Board recessed at noon. Board resumed at 1:30 P. M. with all members and Clerk and Welfare Supervisor Kemp pres o?nt. District Welfare Supervisor Murphey met with the Board. The afternoon was spent in go ing over relief and assistance cases, approving applications for ■Old Age Assistance, Aid to De pendent Children, Direct Relief, Hospitalization and other Welfare matters. March 5, 1945 The following sale of tax deed -property was approved and all delinquent and current taxes against this tract were ordered cancelled, viz: S%SWI4, Section SINEWNW^, Section 16, Town :ship 32, Range 46, for $240.00 to Andreas Hoversland on February 24, 1945. - - Lots 15 and 18, Block 8, North Wolf Point, to Ferdinand Stetzer .for $60.00 on March 3, 1945. Board went over correspond •ence. A delegation from Poplar met •with the Board in regard to a ■bridge over the Missouri River. Upon motion the following Re solution was passed— RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Roosevelt County has been alloted and will receive from the Federal Government and the State of Montana, over a per iod of three years, the approxi mate amount of $388,000.00 as Federal and State aid for building and constructing secondary road: and bridges in said county, and WHEREAS, there is now in •contemplation the erection of a Bridge across the Missouri River in the immediate vicinity of Pop lar, Montana, or as near to that city as may be feasable, to b<- known as tne Poplar Bridge, and ■WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this Board that a bridge across the Missouri River located as Above stated is necessary, and for the best interest of Roosevelt County. NOW THEREFORE, be it re solved by the Board of County Commissioners of Roosevelt Coun ty that one-third of all moneys allotted and received by Roose velt County for building and con structing secondary roads and bridges as hereinbefore stated be and is hereby alloted. and desig nated to aid and assist in build ing a bridge across the Missouri River located as above stated. March 6, 1945 J. C. Taylor of Extension Ser- | -vice and Raymond Kelly met with the board in regard to budgets. Upon motion County Treasurer’s report for January was approved. [ A delegation met with the Board in regard to Wolf Creek road. Upon motion the bid of the Tractor & Equipment Co. for fur nishing Two (2) LaPlante Choate Model R 76 cable controlled Angle dozers to fit Caterpillar Model D 7 tractor for $2460.00 F. O. B factory was accepted. March 8, 1945 Upon motion the resignation of Lorraine Carlson as stenographer for Clerk & Recorder effective March 17th, 1945, was approved. The rest of the day was spent in going over relief and assistance cases, approving applications for Old Age Assistance, Aid to De pendent Children, Direct Relief, Hospitalization and other Wel fare matters. Upon motion County Treasur er’s report for month of Febru ary, 1945, was approved. March 22, 1945 Board went over correspondence Upon motion sales of tax deed property were approved and all delinquent and current taxes were ordered cancelled. Upon motion a dance hall li cense was granted Arthur R. Martin on March 17th, 1945, for The Ranch near Wolf Point Bridge from February 19th, 1945, to March 19th, 1945. Upon motion Ernest C. Waldow was appointed Justice of Peace for Culbertson Judicial Township for the period ending the first Monday in January, 1947, to fill the vacancy caused by the death df Charles Council. Upon motion a dance hall li cense was granted on March 22nd to Arthur R. Martin for The Ranch near Wolf Point Bridge from March 19 to April 19, 1945. Upon motion the following ap pointments in the Clerk and Re corder’s office were approved: Marjie Mitchell, Recording Steno grapher at $137.50 per month, ef fective March 19, 1945. Phyllis Jane Constantine, Sten nographer at $130.00 per month, effective March 12, 1945. Upon motion the Clerk was in structed to have published the fol ■ lowing notice: NOTICE Pursuant to Chapter 144 Legis lative Session 1945, Sub-Section (a): NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN “That all persons whose property has heretofore been deeded to the county, or the successors in inter est of such persons, or legal rep resentatives, who have acquired any preferential right to purchase such property, prior to the date fixed for sale of such property, or while the title to the same remains in the najne of the coun ty, under the provisions of Sec tion 2235, Revised Codes of Mon tana, 1935, as amended by Chap ter 181, Session Laws of Montana, 1939, are hereby given six (6) after the effective date of this Act in which to exercise such pre ferential right to so re-purchase said property in accordance with the provisions of said laws above herein referred to, and if such rights are not so exercised within said period of six (6) months, said preferential rights shall ter minate and thereafter forever be barred.” The effective date of this Act is February 28, 1945.
